Hello everyone,
I was offered a nice lemon burst 59 Les Paul with Serial # 9 3183 from a collector in the UK.
Has anyone heard of this guitar? According to my knowledge the highest Serial No. logged so far was #9 3182.
I am concerned about whether or not this guitar is genuine.
Thanks for your feedback.

Send me some photos and I'll help. 8 3183 is definitely a fake...and a lot of the "fake" numbers share a commonality of numbers.

I have a pretty good visual catalog of fakes.....many I have personally inspected.

Message me through the forum or go to my website for the email address.

The serial on the Keith burst was re stamped by Clive Brown. It's been done in the wrong font as well.

I read that Clive did the last restamp. But the last picture I saw was a REALLY wrong font. Presumably that was the Dick Knight stamp.

I know what it's not.
It IS but one of several guitars stamped 3183 that I've seen. One has an open seem on the top.

The open top seam would denote a Dick Knight guitar. Lot's of his builds/conversions/fakes develop that characteristic over time.

Hello Dley!
Sorry this took me a month to post but I have been very busy of late. I have attached this pic of a lemon burst with a serial number of 8 3183. Not 9 3183 according to my records. Is this the guitar you saw in the U.K.?

I have heard this one is a 1968 LP Std that had P90's converted to 1958 specs with humbuckers by Dick Knight from the U.K. Note the center seam splitting a little. Only what I have heard but I could be wrong. Maybe someone can add something more about this one if indeed it is the one you saw.
