This Tone Specific forum post features a review of the 1959 Blues Humbucker Set. This set has a nice Blues type of tone you might expect from a classic P.A.F. style set but you can play anything with them. Check out the demo of our Best Blues Humbuckers

The early P.A.F. pickups from the 50's are famous for great tone and infamous for inconsistent materials. A common thought is that they just used what was available in the late 1950's to make humbuckers. When they got it right, these pickups were amazing. There was noting else quite like these & we've tried to make the best humbuckers for Blues using these vintage pickups as a starting point.

We make our pickups right here in the USA. We have a small team that focuses on hand-making the best pickups possible. We don't believe in magic winding machines. We just take our time & try to do everything right. Many pro's have told us that our P.A.F. Humbuckers make all other pickups obsolete.

Our process takes a while longer than other companies but you'll appreciate the attention to detail when you hear these pickups. Players with good ears hear the difference from the first note.

Here is comparison of our 59 Blues PAF inspired set against the Virgil Arlo 1959 Humbucker,

We used a Ken McKay semi hollow. It’s a real honor that Mr. McKay uses our pickups in his builds,

The dynamic feel of the pickups in the comparison is very similar but the tone is a bit different. Which set sounds best to you?

“It sounds like the have Tubes in them...almost three dimensional. They just sound really sweet. I don’t how they do it but they even feel sweet. Just like vintage pickups but with more sustain and less noise. They are just amazing”

-Mike Gallaher, Guitarist - Joe Cocker, Leon Russell
