Found this Gibson catalog dated March 1958 in my Grandpa's collection of old guitar chord books.
He ended up buying a 1959 DC Special in Limed Mahogany...as seen in my avatar.

This was printed before the introduction of the Les Paul Standard.

EDIT: The description for the Goldtop with P90's (p16) specifically mentions humbucking pickups.

Pages 19-20 were missing.

It appears to again have the same pictures as the March 1959 catalog from the other thread.

Those catalogs were reproduced by Vintage Paper in the 1990s and turn up fairly regularly on the ‘bay. Not as cool as the originals but useful for research.

Gibson cut costs wherever they could- they'd recycle the same pictures for years even when the guitar had changed. Even P-90s to humbuckers.

I know that a '58 Lester is worth more today, but I'd still like the Super 400 CESN on the cover page....

That's awesome. Other than now I REALLY want an ES-225...

And I've got the necessary $229.50. Even considering how much the £ is worth. Any takers for the Console Grande?
