Yeah, finding a local gem is hard to beat. I found my '99 R9 40th Anniversary that way. It was sitting on consignment at a local shop and already had a set of Holmes PUs installed. I was able to trade in some unused gear on the deal.I'd try the R9 first and hope that it is a perfect match. Why not wish for easy? Trying before buying is always ideal. I'd focus on the fundamentals for me which would be Tone, Neck Carve and Appearance. If the 2007 felt good in my hands and had the voice, it would not be too difficult to address the pots, bridge and nut.
I'd love to find a local gem.
