Just had dinner with my older brother who was in town this week and he looked at me side-eyed when I told him I hadn't had a drink since Halloween. Not that I'm quitting drinking or against drinking, but there has been no reason to drink really. It has been a long boring winter and I have been trying to watch what I consume and keep my blood sugar in check.

I prefer beer....pilsners and kolschs... To anything else. Not a big fan of high alcohol beers. Usually have a couple every day.

Occasionally I have a bourbon and sour. Runs in streaks. Only time I drink soda is if I have a bourbon/sour.

They don't have blended cocktails in Oklahoma.

Bartenders can't work a blender.

So if you're at a sit-down Mexican restaurant , and you order a margarita...

...it's going to be a "rocks" mararita.

Can't run a friggin' blender. More Oklahoma fuckery.

I'm similar but not quite.

I have no problem being a social drinker (1-3 beer) at a get together. The rare time when our house is the spot I'll buy a little more than whatever I think an appropriate amount for guests. If there's beer leftover over I'll have one a day until it's gone but then never feel the need to go buy more.

I can easily go months and months without a drink and never even think about it.

When I had another 25 pounds on me I could easily drink3 - 4 beers twice a week but I'd be sitting for at least 5 hours drinking them.
Since I'm rather light in weight now, 2 beers is plenty. 3 beers make me quite uncomfortable and 4 just isn't wise at all, especially since the effects take an hour or more to catch up to my stupidity...
I can easily go months without having a beer now that I'm 1,200 miles from the Toucan instead of walking distance :laugh2:

I used to drink like it was a competitive sport, but now more than 1-2 drinks or 2-3 beers destroys me. I'm learning to play "Can it 30?" as I get older, and usually the answer is no.

In my younger days back in rural WI growing up in a village where there were 4 bars and a total population of <700 people, there wasn't much to do but drink. A little bar I used to hang out at "Whitelaw Bar & Bowl" (had 4 lanes of bowling...another reason to drink). There were some regulars there much like Norm and Cliff at Cheers. There were two guys, each over 400 lbs, who would come in and drink MORE THAN a CASE OF BEER in one sitting. And do this on a regular basis...like nearly every day.

Rarely if ever would you see them appear drunk in the true sense of the word. Not sure what happened to them.

A life like that was one of the reasons I left the area and moved to Colorado. Couldn't see myself living like Cliff and Norm.

So, good to go.

The closest I ever got to this drunk was a Stag and Doe right after my divorce.

I left the house with $100 ($20 to get in). $4 beer, $2 Jello shots. Came home broke.

Now, I did buy a lot of people a lot of drinks but then a lot of people bought me drinks. And near the end of the night they were giving the Jello shots away. My last trip to the washroom took a few tries to grab the door handle because the door and walls were doing the whole "Scooby Doo ending" thing.
