    My first backpacking adventure.

Basically, but it could be adapted for different situations. Just four core areas to always cover.

5 watter tone evaluation... please review!

I was already thinking about building a 15" AlNiCo cab. I think you pushed me over the edge.

    My first backpacking adventure.

Awesome. I love camping / hiking / exploring! I saw one of your photos and it looks fantastic. Always have: Bright Sharp Medical Deadly Here's a cool YT camping channel. It's not the most professional or very survival / bushcraft oriented for the hardcore, but you might like it because...

    WTB / WTT Pulsonic Cone T1281 / T1534 Celestion / Rola Speakers

Need some Greenback love, here! ...kinda casually keeping my eyes out for a pair of 60's JBL D120Fs, as well.

    WTB / WTT Pulsonic Cone T1281 / T1534 Celestion / Rola Speakers

I came real close to one yesterday. At the last minute, the seller disclosed that the underside of the surround was trashed. What a heartbreaker! So, ya, still looking.

    T tops

The one with the cover off and the magnet shown is an AlNiCo magnet (almost certainly A5), and I'm assuming that's the earlier patent number decal pickup. The covered one, it's a little hard to tell. Sometimes, it's obvious when the baseplate is mounted really deep or really shallow inside the...

    Take my money bump.

    T tops

If I remember right, and you might remember better, there was a typical late 60's / early 70's thick short A5 which had a much bigger, clearer, fuller and crisper sound that replaced the typical "late 70's / Shaw" era thinner, weaker and less defined short A5?

    T tops

Unfortunately, the DCR figures don't indicate anything about the sound. If the one with lower reading DCR has a ceramic magnet in it, it will be twice as loud. If you show me clear photos of these, from all sides, but mostly the underside, even with the covers on, I can probably tell you about...

    T tops

If you have a 1980 T-Top it could sound ENTIRELY different from a late 60's / early 70's T-Top. Gibson started using ceramic magnets, taller slugs, longer screws, and taller spacers in 1979. In that case, there would be little similarity between the two pickups, other than the bobbins with T's...

    Hum From Humbuckers

Interestingly, Gibson says about the BB pros: "Extra noise reduction keeps things quiet even in the high-gain rig." ...but I have no idea what they mean by that, having been inside many. They have the same construction as the rest of their modern humbuckers. So, with your new info, are your...

    Hum From Humbuckers

Are you sure you don't have humbumpers installed? They actually bump up the hum. Check grounds, switches, jack.

Removing one magnet from MIM Strat pickups?

Adding magnets would probably weaken the existing magnets, increase inductance and give you an uneven string balance and frequency response. I wouldn't recommend it. If there was a simple mod to make terrible sounding pickups sound better, everyone would know about it and be doing it already...

Removing one magnet from MIM Strat pickups?

You could try adding a bunch of extra magnets like Page's dragon Tele bridge pickup. Of course, something ruined the sound of that guitar, in his recollection. Maybe that was it?

Shipping rosewood FB guitar from US to Canada - what am I looking at?

Thanks. Shipping to Victoria BC, for what it's worth. The rosewood species is still undetermined. Waiting to see if he wants to pay for Braz. I told him I'd look into any shipping cost differences, in the meantime.

Shipping rosewood FB guitar from US to Canada - what am I looking at?

If I ship a Tele I build with a rosewood fretboard over the boarder to a buyer in Canada, what do I have to do? I know CITES has grown and changed and I'm not familiar with the process. I think it no longer matters if the FB is Indian or Brazilian, but I'm not confident in my knowledge of...
