Help with Epiphone LP Elitist Purchase

I missed out on those when they were new. Always regretted it. I don't have the funds just now but I will soon. Thanks for the link and good luck in your LP pursuit.

If you don't want the elitist I may grab it.

    They're after Dave Chappelle again.

Their feelings aren't really hurt, of course, nor are they facing any elevated threat levels. They simply don't want to hear any dissent and they found that claiming hurt feelings gets results, the same way kids learn that tantrums sometimes work.

    They're after Dave Chappelle again.

He's funny, yes, but he's not joking. He's making a very definite statement and taking a side. And the people he's pissing off aren't trying to change him they're aiming at Netflix. And the head guy there is already caving. Still it is refreshing to see someone essentially say, "You're offended...

Les Paul's Number One goes for $930,000 at Christie's

Joe isn't that rich (or stupid.) My first thought was the east coast collector who Joe said owns Clapton's stolen Beano. Edit: I just checked his net worth on the celebrity net worth tracker thingy. Ok. Joe is that rich, but this was still an overpayment.

Les Paul's Number One goes for $930,000 at Christie's

I would have guessed half that. Anybody here pick it up by any chance? https://www.guitarworld.com/news/les-paul-number-one-sells-at-auction

    Epiphone/etc... Acoustic guitars?

Epi Inspired by Gibson J-45 looks good. I have the Masterbilt version from a few years ago, and when I take it out it's hard to put down. For an all-arounder the J-45 design is hard to beat. $750 and MIC but look at the specs. Solid spruce and mahogany You're getting a lot of value.

Yet another Epi I'm not liking...

Do they feel different unplugged? I mean, maybe one goes better with your amp than the other, and the different isn't in the feel but the sound you're getting.

    "Downgrading" to Epiphone

Downgrade in the title IS in quotes. I take the OP to be praising Epis and disagreeing with those who look down on them. Epis aren't the fat chicks, they're just not the cheerleaders.

    Epiphone Les Paul Prophecy 2020

I'm sure you're correct, and I don't rely too much on sound descriptors, which are always approximations. I liked the differences that I heard from the Prophecy. Very distinctive. From gritty to chimey and something in between. It's an impressive instrument.

    Epiphone Les Paul Prophecy 2020

Leaning toward the modern for it's familiarity but I do love a sexy guitar and the Prophecy wins that bout, especially with the colorful fret marker inlays, but even for looks, I like the Modern in the latte finish (the only one my shop has) and the transparent knobs. The Prophecy is also by far...

    Epiphone Les Paul Prophecy 2020

I was in the neighborhood of the shop that has both the prophecy and a modern, so I dropped in to play the prophecy - plugged in this time. I was very pleased with the tonal variety playing through a clean Marshall. I did notice while tuning that the keys and first frets are farther away due to...

    RIP Charlie Watts

I'm not getting how the Stones continuing without Charlie is disrespectful to him.

Epiphone '59 Les Paul Standard Owners Club

I always buy blem when I can, if the color is the one I want. Often the "blemish" was probably the original buyer didn't like the wood grain pattern, or the tint did not perfectly match the photo, or maybe they saw a thumbprint on a tuner and said "Oh my god! Somebody has touched this!" I've...

    RIP Charlie Watts

Tour cancellation seems unlikely. They are pretty deep into this and a lot of money has changed hands already. Probably contractual language and insurance premiums took illness and death into account , but since they had Steve ready to go, and tickets are still on sale, looks like they're going.

    RIP Charlie Watts

They planned to tour without him a few weeks ago. The Stones announced on August 4 that Charlie had just completed a successful medical procedure (very vague) and would need time to recuperate, and that Steve Jordan would play drums on the No Filter tour. I assume that is still the plan.

    RIP Charlie Watts

I was stunned to hear Charlie died. He made it to 80 though and he had a good run. He will be missed and long-remembered. A great drummer and a good man.

Clarify details - later EPI SG's w/P90's and set necks

I played one of those today at a music store in Ft. Walton Florida where I'm visiting. I had played another one back home last year in a GC and didn't like the feel, but the one I played today was set up much better and I was happily surprised. It looked great too in the candy apple red finish...

    Epiphone Les Paul Prophecy 2020

I appreciate your notes there. The model I held and played unplugged recently was aesthetically pleasing on first glance but I will look more closely next time it's in my hands. I am drawn to this model for the ebony board, the extra frets, and the potential tonal varieties. Having a battery...

    Epiphone Les Paul Prophecy 2020

I could learn to live with them assuming they offer all the variety of tones reviewers are talking about. Thanks for the reply.
