Gibson Zero Fret retro fit - advice needed.

Care to elaborate? How do they change the feel of the feel if the neck? This is what no one has said yet. Lots of negative comments about the zero frets but no actual reasons, so I still don’t get it. I’ve read That the wider neck on the 2015s turned a lot of people off, but that won’t be the...

Gibson Zero Fret retro fit - advice needed.

Haha yeah that's pretty much the impression I get from reading a load of opinions on forums. I can't recall actually hearing and issues with the titanium zero frets from first hand experience. On the other hand it seems that most people who have had them do like them. The harder material should...

Gibson Zero Fret retro fit - advice needed.

Yeah I think milking the base of the nut sounds best to me too. I like the idea of not permanently altering the guitar incase this doesn't work. Unfortunately finding HP models in Norway is virtually impossible. The nearest I have found are in Oslo...7hours away. The drive alone cost me over...

Gibson haven't stopped using them. 2018 HP models still have zero frets. Guess I'm lucky this is a guitar and not a car

Replacing post-2016 titanium Z-fan nut with Tusq?

If it helps any here are a couple pics if the Tusq replacement part for the 2015 ZF along side a 2016 titanium ZF. You can see the underside won't fit into the base of the 2016 without some modification. But it's just some sort of plastic so I imagine that would be easy enough. The two...

Gibson Zero Fret retro fit - advice needed.

What's wrong with the Zero Fret? I had one briefly on a 2016 Standard HP and that guitar was possibly the best playing guitar I've played. But a cracked neck/body joint meant it had to go back. I just don't get the hate for the zero fret. They've been used on basses for years and people don't...

Gibson Zero Fret retro fit - advice needed.

wow i totally hadn't thought about that!! But looking at it now it looks like the "zero fret" ramps up to release the string axactly at the fretboard end the same as the stock and Tusq nuts. That same surface also sits flush with the fretboard edge of the zero fret nut base. So I think if I...

Gibson Zero Fret retro fit - advice needed.

Jkes01 Yeah I had considered the zero glide nuts. But it's the adjustability of gibsons zero fret that I want. I had a LP standard HP briefly with one and the think played like a dream. And every 2016/17 HP I've played has been set up much better than the Non HP equivalents. I reckon it's simply...

Gibson Zero Fret retro fit - advice needed.

I hadn't thought of that but it makes perfect sense. I'll have to get my hands on a fine saw. Not sure what's available locally here in Norway. Otherwise I'll check stewmac. Thanks for the tip

Gibson Zero Fret retro fit - advice needed.

Its a long story and I'm not sure how much i should say, but i got it from Gibson...it wasn't easy. I've seen a couple on eBay in the last month or so though if you're after one.

Gibson Zero Fret retro fit - advice needed.

What do you think the best way of doing that would be? It seems that although simple in concept it may actually be the most difficult way of doing it. Trimming it back without chipping paint and getting a nice clean line sounds tricky. Would a chisel be the best bet? not sure if i trust myself...

Gibson Zero Fret retro fit - advice needed.

Hi all, Thought I'd try here for some more experienced advice. Apologies for the long post. I got my hands on a Gibson Zero Fret nut (titanium version) and am trying to figure out the best way to retro fit it to my 2016 Les Paul Gothic (non HP model so normal nut as stock). The problem is that...

    EU sellers' thread

Anyone interested in selling me a Gibson Zero fret nut? If 2015 brass version: then it's ok if the upper part is work out as I can use a graphtec tusq replacement. But I need the lower part and little bolts. If 2016/2017 Ti version: then I need the whole thing in working condition. I'm in...

Would you keep this LP standard or return it?

Hahaha I'm not such a fan of reliced guitars. In fact I just got my folks to sent me an old guitar that I made back at high school 20years ago. The case hadn't been opened for at least the 6 years I've been living in norway. The nitro laquer has yellowed and the thing looks pretty beat up. Let's...

Ok, so...hmm... never pm'ed on a forum before...how's it done? Curious to know what you know about the chappers. Is it just him you loath personally? I can understand that. Heard any gods about his guitars?

Les Paul Studio/Standard vs Chapman ML2 Pro Modern help me decide...pleeeease!.

The Chapman site says this about the nut - "43MM GRAPH TECH BLACK TUSQ XL NUT" I believe Studios and other non HP LPs are the same no? i really dig the look of both guitars. love the black on black of the Gothic but love the flamed top and exposed thru neck on the chapman. but yeah, tough to...

Les Paul Studio/Standard vs Chapman ML2 Pro Modern help me decide...pleeeease!.

Good call on the heafy epiphones and the ESP ltd. the esp ltd etc-1000 was on my list for ages but for some reason I've never liked the feel of esps. I think they use a narrower nut (42mm) like my prs which is ok but not great for me. The string spacing on the LP standard suited me much better...
