Maple top center line finish question

I was wondering if it common for the finish on top of the maple center line to come up a little. When I run my finger across the center line, I can feel the finish is a little lifted (idk if that's the right term). It's a 2003 Gibson Les Paul standard, so it does have some age to it. Is this a...

    Les Paul Standard silkscreen location

I posted about my friend's Gibson 2005 having a strange truss rod cavity a few days back. But I've noticed another interesting thing. I know that silk screen Les Paul logos aren't specially positioned "historically" correctly on Standard models. But I've noticed that the 2004 (my guitar) and my...

    Normal truss rod cavity?

My friend's 2005 Gibson Les Paul standard. He asked me to check the truss rod, but I'm not too sure as to what this is. Is this normal? The screw hole seems to be too close to the cavity, and I've never seen a truss rod cavity with a small piece of right in front of the truss rod. Is this...

Gibson Les Paul standard 2005 binding bleeding?

A friend of mine is thinking of buying his first Les Paul. He wants one of the 2002-2005 ones simply due to the 50s, 60s neck choice and the narrow headstock shape. He was offered a 2005 Les Paul standard in what I'm guessing is either a light burst or a honey burst? for a decent price. He's...

    Question about Stopbar post

Recently bought a used Gibson Les Paul Tribute 2018 in Honeyburst. The guitar is absolutely a bang for the price, but I've noticed the stopbar post near the low strings seem to be posted much deeper into the body compared to the other side. Is this something I should be worried about it? Judging...

Advice for fretboard chips and finish

I recently got a Les Paul Traditional 2010 in Desert Burst for a price that I couldn't resist used with the original hard case included. The owner pretty much had it in the case for the last 5 years, so the condition of the guitar aesthetically, especially the body and the neck, is mint. The...

    Best year for Tributes

I believe the Tribute models began since 2010 and have been highly praised for what it can deliver for its price. The model has gone through changes throughout years from aesthetics to components etc. I would just like to know from the people either own or have tried them, which year Tributes do...

Les Paul 60s Tribute 2013 knobs and pot question

I currently have a 60s Tribute 2013 model. I'm not an electronics guy, so a little help here. There are a few things I'd like to change on this. One is the knobs and the other is the pickup selector tip/cap. The knobs are speed knobs, but I'd like to change it to a top hat knob gold or amber...

    Pots and harness question

I have a custom made les paul and was wondering if anyone can tell me pots, caps, and switch toggle is installed. I’m not too knowledgable in this field... :( I was planning on upgrading to vintage specs, but I was wondering if this setup is just decent enough to leave. Any words will be much...

    Fretboard grain looks odd...

Recently bought a new Epiphone ES-339. Fantastic guitar for the buck I must say. Everything plays well and sounds good, but my only worry is the fretboard. From all the other ones I've seen, the fretboards all obviously looked like rosewood, but mine looks like it's some sort of wood dyed in...

    Cherry vs Tobacco SunBurst

Hello, everyone? Plan on getting a Gibson ES-339, but I'm having trouble between getting a Cherry or a Tobacco Sunburst. Saw both in person and they both look equally pretty, but I'm leaning more towards the Sunburst simply because the F-holes just look fancier on that color. But the problem is...

    ES-339 color opinion...

Hello, everyone? I've decided to buy an Epiphone ES-339. An ES-335 is too big for me, so I love the size and the design of the guitar. I've always wanted one and felt like the Gibson would be just too much for me. Plus, I've heard a lot of great reviews about this guitar. Anyways, I'm kind of...

Classic Premium Plus 1995 vs Standard 1989

I own two Les Pauls which I have bought both second hand. One is a Les Paul Classic Premium Plus 1995 in honeyburst and the other is a Les Paul Standard 1989 in heritage cherry sunburst. The standard had a headstock crack repair done professionally, almost to the point where you can't feel it...

Installing neck pickup on Les Paul junior

I have a Gibson Les Paul junior 2010 model which I truly love. The feel and sound is amazing. However, I have found recently that I need a neck pickup to play with. Buying a Les Paul special is an option, but I just love the feel of this guitar and wouldn't mind modifying it with a neck pickup...

Hello fellow les paulers. I just recently bought an used greco 1977 les paul standard with a serial number starting with a B777***. I am the third owner of this guitar. greco finishes

i'm looking to buy a 1978 greco les paul eg-800 standard model. I've read that the early 1980s and 1979 grecos are the best and closest to the real gibson specs. so i was just wondering, are the 1978 models nitro lacquer finishes or poly finish?? any words of wisdom is highly appreciated. :)

    wood color top question...

I've always owned only solid colored top guitars and i was interested in buying a cherryburst gibson les paul. I found a person selling it for used for a decent price, but judging from the picture, it seems that it is a two piece maple top. now what i like to know is, the upper part of the top...

    truss rod help.. urgent!!

I just bought a MIJ 1980s Greco EG-700. But before I bought it, I was just so busy playing with the guitar that I forgot to check the truss rod. But after coming home and checking, I uncovered the cover and saw a truss rod I've never seen before. Doesn't it usually have a hole for the wrench...
