    I'm leaving this Forum.

Reminds me of the time my wife and I went to Hawaii not that many years ago. We went to Oahu first because my life's dream was to see The Pearl Harbor memorial. Then we went to Hilo to visit a niece. There were homeless everywhere on both islands with one guy on Hilo holding gigantic sign that...

    2019 R8 REFRET

I have an R8 as well and was told in advance it had tall skinny frets. I'm told the R9 has jumbo Frets. I've had mine about a month it came setup with tens but it is playable. I haven't owned a real Les Paul in over 40 years. My go to luthier will do a refret; but he says no nibs. I thought I...

    I'm leaving this Forum.

I came back to the forums after a long absence and initially felt that they had been taken over by a bunch of whiny 14 year olds. So I left thought about it and started reading them again. There is a lot of good useful information in these threads if you read them. This is the younger or not so...

    Fixing a lifted fingerboard inlay

Reminds me of my trusty 1954 Gold Top I owned in the early 70's. The truss rod would rattle in the neck occasionally creating overtones. My Luthier of choice was in San Francisco. So after he got it he pulled a few inlays and drilled tiny holes underneath where he injected super glue. That...

PSA: Willcutt's Sell One Month Old Used Murphy Lab Defect as New

You owned it a month and got your money back. That's pretty good. You probably paid a lot of money for that guitar. Maybe they received it that way from Gibson? You should ask them. Do you have a picture of that area before they shipped it to you?

Can’t Be Real - Something Fishy Going On

There was a person who advertised one of those here recently. He had struck a line through the Head stock Gibson logo even though you could still she it plain as day. This was on Marketplace. I sent a one word query: China and he responded quickly and politely "yes". I wasn't looking for clues...

What Is It About The Les Paul That Makes It Special?

I had a Tribute model for a short while, I wished I would have kept it. It was awesome.

What Is It About The Les Paul That Makes It Special?

They don't even use jumbo frets.

What Is It About The Les Paul That Makes It Special?

They weigh a ton and cost a fortune.

Uggghh...how to remove crazy glue off nitro finish?

"with addition of toothpicks and glue" A classic repair except usually done in the field with out the glue, some times they last for years if you get lucky.

    Historic Small Frets

The first thing I did when I bought my 1954 Goldtop was have it refretted with jumbo's. Back then I could only afford one guitar at a time. It was my main gigging instrument. I also had the Glen Quan badass bridge installed while he was still making them by hand. I just had an old friend of mine...

Will the vintage les paul market ever fall?

I've wondered sometimes if Norm from Norm's Rare Guitars put his entire collection up for sale at once if the market would sag. It seems very plausible.

    Whats wrong with Gibson P90?

I own a 2019 Gibson Les Paul Special dual P90 in TV yellow. The pickups on this guitar sound magnificent. I am blown away at how good P90's sound now compared to the old factory ones. I owned an original 1954 Gold top in the 70's. Spotlessly clean. The pickups sounded like shit and did so...

Here is my refinshed 2016 Les Paul after 30 days of UV exposure.

To have a nicely aged sunburst like that in mint condition would be great. At least in my humble opinion.

Does owning a great model of a guitar make you want a second one?

I say yes, if you can afford it buy that second or third guitar. They might all be the same brand and model; but you know they will all sound different.
