    NGD:Gibson Collector's Choice #43 .....2017 58 Mick Ralphs Les Paul

why does the bridge look different from most Gibson abr-1s? it seems to have more rounded ends and different saddles. is it aged this way, is it more historically accurate or what? i've seen some like this one on regular models, but very rarely.

    Historic Kluson Lubrication

alright, I'll stick to Dan Erlewine's literature and will contact the man himself rather than be mocked here for no reason. thanks for the advice either way.

    Historic Kluson Lubrication

I suspect the tuner unreliability on VOS guitars is that they come pre-aged. exposure to whatever aging methods they use probably rusts some of them up on the inside. i've already seen this on all of the historics i have played. as i said before, it is a non-issue at all currently, but i can...

    Historic Kluson Lubrication

thanks for the advice, but tuners do get clogged up with all kinds of dirt. experienced it first hand. putting lubricants in there after cleaning them up will result in smoother action. sorry for coming across as rude, but i would rather take Dan Erlewine's advice here. my main question was...

    CITES Frustration (Solved)

no they won't if it is described as 'made in the US'. if the sender marks it as 'US goods returned' it should be alright. if you don't point that out, they'll tax it. depending on the shipping service you use, there may still be other taxes.

    Historic Kluson Lubrication

i know that naphta can help unclog them. they're not bad at all, just unevenly stiff/loose. won't be doing tuner maintenance anytime soon, still curious about the holes. might be grime, but looks like metal.

    Historic Kluson Lubrication

thanks for the advice. i've already seen the Dan Erlewine video and will probably follow his steps if the tuners ever get too stiff. i was mainly wondering about the blocked off access holes, but my guess is they have to be punctured.

    Historic Kluson Lubrication

i can remove them before oiling to avoid damage. thanks for the lube suggestions. some of the gears are just stiffer than the others. just not sure about the holes. i don't think the stock tuners on a reissue are fakes. also, i would rather keep the stock parts than swap them out.

    Historic Kluson Lubrication

Been thinking to oil the Klusons on my R8 sometime soon. However, the holes on the back of the tuners seem to be blocked (seen this on many other LPs too). Do you have to puncture them, or is there another way? Do you guys have any preferred lubricants? Regards, L.

WTB: 2003 Black Beauty Reissue LP CUstom or 2003 Braz. '57 Goldtop LP

yeah will be a tough search when you're limited to the EU. CITES has made imports impossible in most cases. And braz might be trouble even within the EU.

WTB: 2003 Black Beauty Reissue LP CUstom or 2003 Braz. '57 Goldtop LP

pretty sure if somebody wanted to sell they would have put it up before you asked. it's not like there's an infinite number of 2003s out there, let alone ones owned by people who want to get rid of them. but you should have kept your true historic imo; highly doubt the '03s would make you more...

From some angles it looks like the lemon drop it's supposed to be :). Also one of those half-plain and half-not-so-plain cases. But I dig it.
