Its the case, the wood, the glue to assemble the guitar, the buffing compound and the nitro, maybe some other things.. But much or most of it is the case, I agree.
What you “proved” is that you made your Tele smell kind of like a Gibson case. All the other parts of the smell of a new...

Klusons are good. They hold and none of this wind-wind-wind stuff. A quick flick of the wrist and your In tune. Grover’s are adequate but a LP is supposed to have klusons.
2013s had some 2-14 features, carve, color, neck slightly smaller, but what I remember was a metal tag on the back, switch cover as opposed to the whole metal medalion of 2014. Also both 2013s I had had better binding rollin than the 2 2014s. But the 2014s had more correct looking plastics. I...
I have an R8 that came with zebra Custombuckers under the cover. But the dealer (Daves) ordered a LOT of R8s and spec’ed them that way. Zebra sounds much better than plain old black.
They did it because the old headstock looked awkward. Having a headstock twice as long as needed to support the tuners is a main reason why I can’t own an Epiphone. Ya, it’s the looks. The current/new design is much nicer looking..
I just had to point out.... what you posted has NOTHING to do with the topic. It is specifically for the USED AND REFURBISHED AUTO PARTS INDUSTRY. If one actually read it, you would find it frowns on an industry that does nothing BUT refurb used stuff from claiming it is new manufacture...
Agreed selling obviously used product as new might be considers fraud or deceptive. But the dude claimed that Gibson was breaking the law by using new parts off of new unsold guitars to make other new guitars. It just ain’t so.
Its akin to saying if you bolt a tuner onto a guitar your making...
For sure you are a great lawyer, and possibly a legislator too. Show me any federal or Tennessee state law that makes it illegal to disassemble parts from unsold inventory (or even returned for that matter) to manufacture new product. It does not exist, but many dudes speculate crap like this...
I think @Danelectro has a great example there. Beautiful.
Here’s my R8 plaintop. I’d say it’s in the ballpark but still flames that are too wide and not twisted enough.
I don’t think so. Maybe the PRS. I always understood “filldeback” as twisted/braided thin random weaves with good clarity.
Pinstripes, wide flames, quilt isn’t fiddleback. Unless of course you have a fiddle like that.
Pearly Gates is a decent example.
So if I like the pots in all the reissues and most of the USA les Pauls from the mid 90s through 2014for sure, which ones do I like? I also bought a bunch in “Gibson historic” packaging and like them too. I usually play cranked Marshalls with no drive pedals and I like the volume pots that...
