Hey guys,
I am doing some experiments with tailpieces, height, locking vs non-locking, etc. Also, I'd like to try some different materials, currently I have
stock Gibson zamac and ABM Brass one, Faber aluminium is on the way. I wouldn't want this to turn into discussion about differences...
Well, I hope that it will work...it's hard to believe that a different system from the same manufacturer won't do anything. My theory is: if InSert is doing it's thing on my guitar, BSW should too, being (according to Faber) a superior system - if I hadn't had good results with InSert I wouldn't...
Hey,
I have a 2018 LP Studio with Faber InSert kit and their locking bridge. I liked what it did to my tone, so I decided to go with their BSW kit, which is advertised as a best tone enhancer of all 3 kits they offer for (originally) Nashville TOM - equipped guitars, as I always try to squeeze...
Thanks, guys, good advice here! I guess it's time to visit my luthier again...
I have a bit of relief in the neck, but not much really. I thought that adding relief could cure the problem.
Hey guys,
yeah, it's just one note; when I press D string on a fifth fret (G) it does not sustain as others. I get 7-8 seconds (barely), others
are in 11-12 and more territory. I don't think it's a neck relief as everything else sounds fine between fifth and seventh fret, no buzz or
sustain...
If anyone is interested: I crimped them anyway, cut the excessive part of the strings and locked them, without tightening the lock screws too hard. Thought that crimping might help in preventing the wound strings unwrapping when locked, I read it happened to some people. So far, everything seems...
Thanks, man! It makes sense not to crimp them as the locking mechanism affects the wrap anyway, but I admit I am not an expert...just trying not to screw something. Cheers!
Hey guys,
I recently installed Gotoh SG301 tuners on my Studio; tuners are great so far, I have nothing but good to say about them. However, I'd like to try a set of DR Tite Fits and I'm not sure what would be the best way to restring the guitar. DR recommend to crimp the strings before...
It's a bit complicated...I haven't put them immediately when I got them due to some work I had to finish, so my "window" for returning them has expired. No other options except Hipshot? I thought i saw somewhere on this forum that there are other models that could work as a direct replacement.
Hey guys,
I have a LP Studio, 2018 model with locking Grover tuners which I bought as a replacement for stock Grovers. However, new locking Grovers started to act weird as soon I put them on the guitar, they are not smooth at all, it's like they are moving in steps (if that makes any sense)...
That's I custom paint-job, right? Was it done by you or some service? It looks great! Nice to see someone else digging the SH-5 at the bridge besides me, great and versatile pup!
Here is mine, 2018 Studio in Vintage Sunburst with binding on the neck:
It originally came with black plastics and black speed knobs, I like it better this way, more vintage look. I switched bridge pup (57 Classic+) for Duncan SH-5 and it matches really nice with 57 Classic at the neck. Plays...
OK, in case anyone is interested, here is the guitar I got:
It plays very nice, there are no visible flaws in finish, binding, etc. I changed plastics to cream, looks better to me this way...old black plastics were making overall appearance to dark, imo. Tone is good, very loud acoustically...
Thanks, Willy, I dig the look too and hope it sounds as good as it looks. And no, you didn't sound snobby at all, we were just discussing and sharing opinions :cheers2:.
I heard only good things about 2018 Studio and I like that guitar, when I saw it for a good price I ordered immediately...it's not a Standard, but Standard is not Custom, either. There is always better, but my take on that subject is that you have to draw a line somewhere and play the instrument...
Hey Willy,
I already ordered 2018 Studio with binding on the neck; frankly, no binding on the body is not a deal-breaker for me. Neck, yeah, I prefer the feel of the bound neck and luckily I scored a good deal on this one...there is a couple of pictures of this particular Studio just a few...
Btw, since you had the same guitar, would Grover Locking Rotomatics 502 be a direct replacement, with no need for extra drilling? Or maybe Grover 106? Thanks!
