That's a beautiful R8.
2016 is a one off year for nomenclature. TH models were serialized 8 1234 like any other year. But dealers couldn't sell most customers on the TH upcharge. Thru 2015 Gibson continued to crank out reissues w/ '14 serial numbers and THs w/ '15 serial numbers.
For '16...
There's a nice '07 CR8 on reverb now for $3300.
That's about what non dealer asking price is for a similar year R8.
'07 R9s from private sellers are in the 4k range + or - a few Benjamin's.
This guitar should've been in that range to begin with.
And there's absolutely no excuse for any...
There are standard spec CR '54 Customs in both black and cherry red too. But if'n I remember correctly it was only a few dealers involved in ordering these CR runs. I think there's like ~5 CR4 Customs from each dealer and some of those were red and green while others were triple pup versions...
Chances are it's an awesome guitar.
I've had more than few CRs and they've all been really good.
I can't say that about all the Rs I've had pass thru my hands...
I went with 'move on' too. I'm really doubting it'd hold a candle to my Braz CR7 and the sellers ineptitude put me off.
I have a hard time dealing with sellers that don't know their business...
It's a 2017 R7 but wasn't completed til 2018.
Dan Nichols had it built as a M2M.
He chose a lightweight body blank to chamber, a one-piece top, one-off Heather Brown finish and the Braz board.
Other than those features it's regular R7/CR7 spec.
...edit... It also came from Gibson w/RS...
I looked that one over also. It's most certainly a 2007, CR9.
Price isn't bad for what it is. CR9s 0s and Customs are rather few and far between.
I'd try to go $3700 and see what they say.
They (CR9s) definitely don't come up that often and when they do they're usually WAY over priced.
Reading is fundamental.
I was only referring to the TH R8s curently available at Willcutts.
I'm more than aware that some R8s are very nicely flamed. Dave's has a few flamed R8s now.
However, the OP mentioned TH, so I was attempting to point a few out for him.
