Ed King Mentions BCR Greg and Wizz Pickups

I got up at 4:30 this morning because of my steroids not letting me sleep anymore and stumbled upon this great interview with Ed King. I never really knew who he was as far as how much he contributed to Lynyrd Skynard. Hell I didn't even know that he was one of the survivors of the fateful...

    Steroids and Round Tuits...

Where to begin... I've been hanging here for 11 years now and it's one of my favorite daily stops on the internet highway. This section of MLP has been a great source of information/entertainment for me and many of us have become friends and shared a lot of adventures along the way. I'd like...

    ES335(ish) Build Video(not mine)

Stumbled upon this this morning and thought I'd share it. Very well filmed and documented. Very talented young man. It had 1.4 million views already in a month.

    OK, where's Sully?

Nice to see Barnaby back around these parts these days. I miss GatorPayne and I wish him well. There's Roman and SG Lou have gone missing and then there's John Sullivan AKA Sully. He seems to be doing great with custom and South Korean reproduced guitars of his design which is awesome. I'm just...

    Acceptable moisture content?

Hey all. Just a quick question regarding moisture content on body slabs. I've have 2 knotty pine 2" slabs that have been curing in my garage for nearly 2 years. They are between 10-13.6% according to my moisture meter. Is that dry enough to commence with a build? Thanks for any input.

    Trade: My Bigsby B60 for a B70

As in the title, I need a B70 for my Sorrento. We each pay any shipping costs. My zip is 29638. Mine is in excellent condition. If you have a B70 that's scratched etc. and will cover both shipping I'd consider it. Thanks!

    Under the Knife...AGAIN

I turned 59 today and Wednesday I'm going in for another neck surgery. I have degenerating discs and 6 years ago I had C5/C6 fused and now my Dr is going for C6/C7. C1/C2 and C3/C4 don't look too good either. I've had 3 shoulder surgeries in the past and my knees are shot. Sucks getting old but...

Cool Hensel repair video by a Hamiltonian

NOT LP related but I stumbled upon this video this morning of an extreme makeover of a Canadian 1930's Arthur Hensel acoustic by Hamilton Ontario(where I'm originally from) luthier Ted Woodford. I hope you enjoy this...

Merry Christmas to you all here at MLP!

Just to wish everyone here on this fine forum a wonderful Christmas and upcoming New Year! We'll be horking down some turkey and trimmings in a couple of hours and I can't wait. We have my son Joshua over(he's 25) and went out back and had some fun shooting targets on our property and he had a...

    Qick and easy headstock logo

I just stumbled upon this video after watching Scott's(ExNihilo) awesome video on top carving. It's probably only usable on unstained maple headstocks but you could apply it to a inlaid maple shape on a dyed holly veneer I suppose. I thought it would be a good one to share here. Let me know if...

"HANDY" tip for us old fart players/builders...

I just thought I'd share what I use for my aching hands to ease my arthritis and pain. DMSO gel REALLY works for me within 10 mins of rubbing it all over my fingers and back of my hands. It's only $13 for a 1 pound jar at tractor supply co. It's primarily used to treat horses. Just be sure that...

Just wishing to all my extended MLP family members the very best best this holiday season! I just spent the early morning going through Nuance's wonderful thread again so I suppose it's luthier related. Thanks again Daniel for your great documentation to act as a great teaching tool to others...

Christmas present for a good friend...

Well, the season change and cooler temps here in NW South Carolina has inspired me to start a new project. In the midst of trying to clean out the wreck/mess in my modest garage shop I started looking at this derelict Fender Squier strat I found in an attic at work. As fate would have it, I have...

    MLP Luthier Group Shot Montage?

I thought it would be fun if we could create a montage of the folks that hang out here at the luthier section of MLP. I'm not able to photoshop myself but maybe one of the members could take this on. Everyone could submit a .jpg of themselves holding a guitar(or 2) that they built. What do you...

    90's Melody Maker autograph removal?

Hi guys. I'm getting a P-90 equipped Melody Maker in Cherry for $140 this weekend from a good friend. Unfortunately it was autographed with a sharpie(no pics yet) and I was hoping to get some input on how to remove it or a good link from here. I've read everything from dry eraser pens to...

    War era Harmony neck issues...

Hey all. Looks like this thread will probably take me over my 1000th post. What a loooong, strange trip it's been! I took in a 71 year old patient that needs some TLC. It's a war era Harmony archtop that's in GREAT condition. My friend bought it for $125.00(yes, $125.00). After he brought it...
