Why are skinny necks considered "faster"

Here’s my 2 cents: I have small hands and can’t get a proper grip on a 50s neck. I had a LP which sounded great, but it was completely worthless to me. I’ll go for the slim taper...

Should I replace my PCB for old School board?

If I'm not mistaken, the pots of the Gibson Les Paul pcb are 300k

Should I replace my PCB for old School board?

Hi there, Despite having had a minor problem with my PCB (the connector broke) I'm all set now and have no problems with my guitar. I've heard about people gutting their guitars to replace the pots for 500k etc. My question is, do I get a difference in tone and is it worth the hassle of having...

Vox AC 15 vs Night Train

One thing that I really liked about the AC15 was the vintage tone: it's got the Brian May, Jimmy Page and Keith Richards feel which is what I was looking for. I haven't tried the NT, but I'm sure it has a great performance as well.

Vox AC 15 vs Night Train

I turned the master volume down as much as possible and then rolled down the channel volume quite a bit as well. It's very close to optimal and what surprised me the most is that despite the low volume, it still sounds big.

Vox AC 15 vs Night Train

I went for the AC15C1: I just can't believe how good it sounds! It's the warm, vintage sound that I'd only heard on my old vinyl records. Thanks to everyone for all the input I got on this thread!

Vox AC 15 vs Night Train

Hello everyone, I'm looking for a small amp to use at home (my 160 watt Peavey Special is a bit too loud) and I'm in doubt between the Vox AC 15 and the Night Train. I enjoy bluesy rock (think Grateful Dead to Lenny Kravitz) and have read great reviews on the AC 15 and not such great reviews on...

    Burstbucker Pro is awful!

I tried everything and my last resort was swapping them for a set of Seth Lovers. It was like magic and I only remembered to adjust pickup height a couple of days later because it just sounded so good. IMHO, it finally sounds like a Les Paul

    Burstbucker Pro is awful!

I went for Seth Lover bridge and jazz neck. The Seth was love at first riff and I'm managing to tame the Jazz on the neck. It's really bright, but I've turned the tone down to 3 and despite sounding like I'm switching guitars when I'm just switching pickups, the Jazz sounds so clear that I...

Does the PCB affect sound quality?

The Molex connectors on the PCBs seem to be a weak point. I did take the PCBs out of my guitars and put in point to point wiring instead. My Molex connector simply broke! It looks like a Made in China toy, not an instrument which is supposed to last...

Does the PCB affect sound quality?

Hi there, I have a 2018 Gibson Les Paul Standard and I just can't get it to sound the way I think I should. My old Gibson Explorer with a set of Pearly Gates pups sounds much better than the LP with Burstbucker Pros, so I bought a set of Seth Lovers to replace them. The fact is, when I went to...

    Gibson Les Paul Standard 'sizzling'

It improved a lot! It's not as silent as the Explorer but I think it could be because the Explorer has Pearly Gates whereas the Burstbuckers are high gain. Could that be the reason?

Swapping pickups on a Gibson LP Standard 2018

Man, I'm living in Brazil... However, I did find them on the local ebay so it shouldn't be a problem.

Swapping pickups on a Gibson LP Standard 2018

Thanks for the tip. So, basically all I have to do is solder the connectors and I'm good to go?

Swapping pickups on a Gibson LP Standard 2018

I'd like to swap the pickups on my LP because I'm not pleased with the Burstbucker Pros. However, when I look at the wiring, I'm afraid of not being able to put the new ones in. Could someone give me a few tips on how to change the pups on this thing? Do I need to buy a 4 conductor pup and how...
