    turning a 89 Greco into a 1954 gold toppy

I did this with a Bulldog kit build that I bought off somebody already finished. It came out good enough for me, which is to say that I don't invite people to look too close at it.

    Tokai LS-100 Refret (Nibs) question

I will bid adieu to the nibs on my LC100 when its frets become untenably low. I'd rather spend that money on stainless.

They're building one about a mile from me. Could be dangerous...

I saw that Crews on my local Craigslist and whatnot. If I had room in my life for another guitar, you would have heard from me immediately. That's a real looker.

I played one of those '55 Epiphone Customs shortly after they came out and it wasn't half the guitar my old Edwards Custom was. Could have just been a dud, I guess.

Convince me to not sell my MIJ LP to get a Gibson LP

Never owned a Gibson myself, but have played loads of them in various contexts. I can count on one hand the ones that were exceptional and that I considered to be worth something like their price tag: My old roommate's dad's '79 silverburst Custom, which lived at our apartment for a while...

    1989 Edwards ready to play

That is just about the plainest top I've ever seen. Great color on that.

    Most expensive MIJ you own

My 1979 LC100. On the left in these photos. Yet another one courtesy of Harold. The first time he posted a picture of it, I knew I had to have it, and lucky for me he put it up for sale a while later. Only guitar I've ever spent more than $1000 on, and very much worth it, although it's not quite...

MIJ custom with 3 piece maple neck?

    That'll be a one-piece neck though, surely?

Edwards Lacquer Taste vs All Lacquer

Yep, nitro topcoat. I used to have a 2006 LTS, and it had a nice satiny look on the finish. Great guitar, although when I got my first Tokai, it was time to move it on.

How about a vintage Tokai NGD? (with pics)

That is, as they say, a spicy meatball.

Les Paul Standard / Traditional or High end Tokai LP ?

I've never owned a Gibson. I've played a few Gibsons that were utter stunners, like my old roommate's dad's '79 silverburst Custom and an aughts ('06 or '07 maybe) custom shop Black Beauty. I've also played more than a few that were unremarkable, and a handful that were downright cruddy. I have...

Good price, too. I just can't...I'm at capacity with guitars. Especially G-style two-humbucker guitars. I really should stop looking at this thread (but I won't).

Oh, you put it in the right place, all right. I do love a white SG.

Sweet LORD. That is a stunner at that price. If I didn't already have an absolutely exquisite Ibanez 2630, my wallet would be open right now.

    Burny/Tokai FLG 60 Nitro

Dang, now I almost wish I'd bought that one.

    Good NG Day 1978 Burny/Tokai FLG 60

This isn't coming from the Chicago area is it? Saw one very much like that listed on CL recently.

    1977 Aria Pro ll LS-450

So often the cherry sunburst finish goes wrong, even on Gibsons, but that's a real looker.

This guitar has started an internal battle in my mind

Those pictures caused me to head straight to Reverb to search Aria Pro II. And I swore off buying guitars a couple years ago. (I'm not going to buy one, but there is a damn fine looking ES-345 copy in Indianapolis that I lingered over.)
