    OK, where's Sully?

Nice to see Barnaby back around these parts these days. I miss GatorPayne and I wish him well. There's Roman and SG Lou have gone missing and then there's John Sullivan AKA Sully. He seems to be doing great with custom and South Korean reproduced guitars of his design which is awesome. I'm just...

    Acceptable moisture content?

Hey all. Just a quick question regarding moisture content on body slabs. I've have 2 knotty pine 2" slabs that have been curing in my garage for nearly 2 years. They are between 10-13.6% according to my moisture meter. Is that dry enough to commence with a build? Thanks for any input.

    Fat Daddy---down but not out

It was really nice talking to you the other day Bob. Prayers to you and yours and Godspeed to a hopefully full recovery. If not full, I hope you're not too limited and are not in too much pain. As I was telling you about my medical "stuff" going on we have to stick together, say prayers and...

What's on YOUR workbench right now?

Much Mo Bedda! I have a car and a half garage shop and it looks like a grenade was thrown in it. I take everything out of it and put it back together every 5 years. After all the spring projects are caught up I HAVE to do this. BTW...I wish I had a dust collection system.

Luthiers.. Opinions on intonation around the third in stead of at the twelve fret..

Construed snarky comments or 'bout a group hug strictly using social distancing? :h5: These are weird times and you can cut the tension with a knife. Regarding the tuning "Thang", I feel it's a life-long pleasant struggle. Try building/intonating something like this... and...

Replacement for Gibson Deluxe tuners with white buttons?

Your tuners look like they are the vintage style with push in bushings and no nuts and washers. Whatever you decide on, I would make sure that you get ones with the large tabs that hold the covers down onto the body of the tuner assembly. The post 1978 (Ping?) Gibson Deluxe square cover tuners...

    SG badly repaired headstock

1st time I ever saw a headstock repair done with a chain saw! I would take that job on in a heartbeat just for the challenge. Hell, you only have $80 into it and it's only a $600 guitar. You could sell it on Reverb as is and get $200 for it right now. Lots of possibilities and options. You have...

    My workshop on Japanese TV...

You handle being the "token white guy" well Barn and I'm sure you make a great impression on many there. I knew you'd make the big screen break soon. I would really enjoy visiting Japan. I like the culture and how sweet, pleasant and respectful everyone seems to be. My wife and I don't...

    3D Printed Les Paul Junior

I encourage the effort. I see it as innovative and a possibly viable niche market in it's infancy. Look at what Les was doing in the early days of electric guitar building and amplification. Also, would any of us turn down a Ampeg Dan Armstrong guitar?

Big Neck Freak Needs Help / Advice

Out of curiosity why such a thick neck? Are you a strictly slide player? I have relatively long fingers and enjoy what most would call baseball necks but not that thick. I do like a 1.75" nut width. BTW...welcome to the forum!
