    1952 Goldtop at CME

There's a member here that is doing a 53-59 conversion, and he does them frequently, so he may have a set for sale. You can check Reverb as I've seen pairs on there as well. You can't beat a pair of 50's P-90's!!

NGD: Gibson Les Paul Special Tribute DC

I grabbed a DC Special off the wall at a local GC Tues. to test drive a Marshall Studio Vintage amp because it had P-90's, and was blown away at how well it played AND sounded! I'm still thinking about going back and grabbing that or a single cut Jr. to hang on the wall. I think they're one of...

What String Gauge and Type Do You Use?

This is what I play on all my Gibson's. Great strings with superb tone. I use Slinky 10-46 on my Strats and Tele due to the longer scale as they have less tension than the Gibson 10-46. I've heard the Gibson strngs are made by D'Addario, but haven't confirmed it, but they have a very similar...

Current market value of 59 Les Paul Jr. double cut

Can you get a close up of the control cavity? Not the best photos, but I'm not seeing signs of refin or reissue here just yet. Can you disclose what he's asking for it?

Current market value of 59 Les Paul Jr. double cut

OP, do you have any photos of the guitar? From what I've seen lately, a 59 DC Jr. in very good condition is running in the 6000 - 6800 range, with nice examples north of 7K, but not by a whole lot, unless it's mint. This is just based on what I've seen recently, but some others here may be...

    NGD - LP Special

Bummer. Did you try another guitar into the amp? Maybe some dirty power into the amp could have contributed? My special and my R6 are both fairly quiet, but I'm not around any florescence lighting. Sorry to hear you were constantly buzzed during your gig. :naughty:

    NGD - LP Special

Can you move around on the stage and get away from the lights a bit? Turn the amp up more, and the guitar down some maybe? Good luck Vic!

Would you be intrested in a 5/1 watt 112 JCM 800?

I know right! Man I looked at that cab and SV20 head a long long time. Just can't justify pushing that much air at home. :(

Would you be intrested in a 5/1 watt 112 JCM 800?

I went with the 1959 SLP "Plexi" version! My new Studio Vintage 20C should be here Wed!

Would you be intrested in a 5/1 watt 112 JCM 800?

Or you can try the Marshall Studio Classic in 5 watt mode to get an idea. It's a 20 / 5 watt JCM 800 running a pair of EL 34's! It has a 10" celestion V type speaker, and made in the UK.

Latest ‘53/‘59 Conversion project- surprise Uber flame!

A 3 piece top burst? It's your guitar for sure, but my vote, if I had one, would be to refin back to gold, and enjoy those awesome P-90's. However, if you press on with an (ouch) Humbucker conversion, let me know if the P-90's are for sale. I'd rather you keep them in that guitar, but if...

2006 Les Paul Special Control Cavity Question

Beautiful fret board!! You're gonna be having some fun soon!! And you'll love how well the tone and vol pots really do work well with the P-90's to color the sound in so many ways! I apologize because I know I'm not helping your wait for the big brown truck any easier! :naughty:

2006 Les Paul Special Control Cavity Question

Congrats on one of the best guitars ever made ! A Special can do so many tones and oh those wonderful P-90's!! I share your love for these, so here's a peek at what yours will look like in, oh about 50 years from now. Here's my 56, and a cavity shot still the same as it left Kalamazoo.

    Small Marshall amp advice needed

Marshall has a really nice vertical 2x12 cab made for the Studio Vintage head that I really really wanted, but I know I don't really really need it! At home I don't need to push that much air.
