NGD: Gibson Les Paul Special Tribute DC

Musician's Friend will give you the 15%. You have to open the chat and ask if you can use the coupon. That's what I did. Don't put it in your cart and try to use the coupon, that won't work.

NGD: Gibson Les Paul Special Tribute DC

Ok, I just ordered one. You can get the 15% off promo code if you do the chat thing with Musician's Friend and ask for it. I got it for $510 without tax. So with tax added and free shipping it was under $550. That was for the 2-pickup Special.

Looking at a "new" Les Paul

Okay, I cleaned the thing with soap and water, I oiled the fretboard, I adjusted the action, I lowered the pickup heights, and I put on a set of .009s. It plays great!!! You couldn't tell from the pics before but it was pretty dirty, it's sparkly clean now.

Looking at a "new" Les Paul

Yeah, $700 is a good deal. About 6 years ago I bought a 2003 SG Standard for $600 and last year I bought a 2011 SG Standard for $750.

Looking at a "new" Les Paul

UPDATE: I ended up not getting the Les Paul. I was looking at Reverb and the history of prices and there have been several go for $1500 (including shipping) in the style and color of that one. So I am going to hold out on a Traditional. I did pull the trigger on an SG. It's a 2013 SG Standard...

I saw that. I really like the bursts that are more teardrop shaped though.

Looking at a "new" Les Paul

I have seen these go for $1500 around here in near mint condition...the scratch isn't that big of a deal but for $200 and some time waiting I could have one without the scratch. I am sort of talking myself out of it now.

Looking at a "new" Les Paul

2018 Gibson Les Paul Traditional in HoneyBurst. It has a big scratch on it. $1300 seems like a good deal though for just that scratch plus it on the side near the output jack. What do you guys think? I messaged him and he can meet tonight to show it to me. I tried talking him down but he is set...

Does lack of binding bother you?

On a Gibson, I prefer the look of binding.

I want to install a humbucker on a Strat ----- potentiometer question.

My Strat has Texas Special Pickups. I have a Seymour Duncan Invader Humbucker that is pretty hot that I want to install in the bridge position. I was going to buy an HSS pickguard and move the components over from the SSS pickguard, but are the pots going to be right for this new setup? I am...

Using Higgins India Ink to darken a streaky ebony fingerboard

I love that there is a "during" photo because Mitch Hedberg has joke where he says "where are all the DURING photos?" anyhow...…..the fretboard looks great. I have a rosewood fretboard on an SG that is very light in color and it bothers me a little bit. I should look into something like this.

    NGD American Special Stratocaster

I know this pic looks like the other ones I already posted but I cleaned up the guitar, took off the saddles and cleaned them because there was 8 years of dust and lint in them and they were grossing me out. I took the plastic off the back tremolo cover, restrung it with .009s, loosened the...
