Humidity this Year, and Guitars.Climate change.

No difference in Denver. Just another winter with dry, cold air. Humidification is very needed.

    Upcoming $259 hollowbody NGD

Exactly. If I were going to change pickups, I may just use the wires from the old ones and splice the new ones to those. Changing pots on semis and hollows seems like a nightmare. And I like tinkering on guitars...

    Upcoming $259 hollowbody NGD

A few years ago a friend of mine purchased a Xavier guitar. It was fine, but always felt a bit off. Looked cool but there was not much there to bond with as a player. You got a good deal on a cool looking guitar. Hope you can clean it up and get it set up so you like it. Check back with us...

All the cool guitar shapes taken? Seriously ....

From a design standpoint, I take headstocks very seriously. I have a hard time buying a guitar with a headstock that doesn't work for me.

All the cool guitar shapes taken? Seriously ....

Not loving the red fretboard, but the body is a cool design. Adding to my prior post... new designs are absolutely possible with all of the factors included in my description. The challenge is making something that doesn't look ridiculous in the process. The above Ric is a good example of...

All the cool guitar shapes taken? Seriously ....

I agree with you, yet I would say that there are variations that still make shapes unique. For example: Both are single cuts, but I would never say a Tele looks like a Les Paul. I also wouldn't say that a Tele looks like it is just a modified LP. How about an SG and a Strat? Both are double...

All the cool guitar shapes taken? Seriously ....

I think the Wolfgang is a good example of a new design that works. Ironically, the Music Man Axis is this for me too. (Ironic since its origins were also as an EVH sig guitar.)

    “Charveled” Fender or real Charvel?

IMO, quality is less of an issue (if an issue at all) compared to which guitar feels right and does what you want it to do. A "quality" USA guitar that doesn't feel or perform to your desires isn't quality at all if you prefer a MIM guitar and actually bond with it. Anymore, the whole USA vs...

    EVH D-Tuna not working right

Yes. This. It works. Leave a little play on the Floyd fine tuner to tune flat, but not much. Basically all the way out minus a turn or so.

    EVH D-Tuna not working right

I've had 3 Tunas. They are finicky, but following factory directions to a tee has always worked for setup. Once set up, they are pretty much set till next string change. Then a reset is needed.

2012 Fender Custom Shop 60's Stratocaster

I really don't think so. The Custom Shop seems to be pretty consistent with what they put out. There are varying levels of Custom Shop products ranging from line built to hand built and custom. But there is a level of attention that all of the instruments get that exceeds what standard Fender...

All the cool guitar shapes taken? Seriously ....

Below is another guitar I made with the same body design. I bult this with the intent that it would be an inexpensive prototype for an original semi hollow design. It is silly how inexpensive it was to make... But it turned out to be a decent enough little guitar, and super lightweight...

verify this '84 Reissue V please

Asian copies in '84 and earlier tended to be more obvious than in the past 25 years. It's doubtful that you'd find an Asian made copy from the era that didn't give itself away pretty obviously in one form or another. Of course there is nothing saying that the guitar in question is even that old...

All the cool guitar shapes taken? Seriously ....

Below is an original design that I've used with two guitars. It is narrower than a standard body, but length is the same. Very comfortable to play. People who spend much time on the upper-upper frets would not like the narrow lower cutaway. But I don't, so it doesn't bother me and looks the way...

Semi Hollow Models Comparable to ES-335

I like it a lot. Very dimensional and versatile in it's tones. Sustain is really impressive! I prefer several of my other guitars for high gain tones. But for lots and lots of other stuff, overdrive or not, my Eastman is just killer.

All the cool guitar shapes taken? Seriously ....

I've built a couple of original guitar bodies. I wanted to use my own design, which I did, but it was really tricking coming up with something that I thought looked unique, right, and not just weird. As it is, they are somewhat unconventional. Many pages of thumbnail sketches and lots of failed...

Who makes the best non-Gibson Les Paul Junior DC Replicas?

Yes, I got this notice and link today. Was going to post it but you beat me to it. I just bought an Eastman semi-hollow and would suggest that Eastman is very worthy of consideration here. The link didn't copy in the quote so here it is again...

Holy Cow That Tone! Eastman T64/V TT

Yes, the T59v was what I played in the store. I was very impressed but didn't care for the color, which was darker and more "furniture" looking , IMO than what I ended up with. As it is, the color we have is not just red but a deeper, nicer version, but still looks like a traditional guitar...

Holy Cow That Tone! Eastman T64/V TT

I've had my T486 for several a few weeks now and it really is a nice guitar. Extremely versatile. In fact, other than high gain, I'd say it does everything else really well. Even gets into that Country twang area with the right amp and settings. Tone pots adjust the tone - don't just make the...

new guitar cannot afford a setup

If you can't do the adjustments yourself and can't pay for it I guess you're left with try it and see how it works. Neck relief will no doubt be affected, but if you don't get a lot of buzzing, you should be okay. Intonation can also be an issue, and will technically change a little. But if it...
