Interesting. Mine are completely horizontal for the most part - regardless of what angle you look at them. All my pics above are taken with the headstock to the left and at an angle so the light would show the checking - at least so my iPhone could see it.
I have seen many pictures of checking but I have noticed that most all checking I have seen is vertical on the body with limited horizontal checking.
I have a 2001 Custom that has just really started to check with the onset of brutal cold and dry weather in the past few weeks. I have never...
To me, there is nothing sexier than a custom.
I loved my white custom soo much that I decided to refinish my V to be it's twin (but with silver hardware).
Thanks for the kind words guys. I still promise to get more HQ pics. In low or fluorescent light the color looks more amber/yellow/aged look. In the sun, it looks bright white. I know my iPhone pics don't do it justice.

Today...

Might be some good info from Stewmac.
Really? I've seen other builds where guys put 4-6 clear coats on and call it good. Most guys I've either spoken with or read about says 14-16 days for clear to cure before final sand/buff. Interesting. Guess I'll have to do some more reading.

I am in the processes of refinishing my faded V and it is nearly complete, clear should be shot today and then left to hang and cure for 16 days or so before final sanding and buffing. Here is what I...
