I tend to modify every guitar I get so I would feel awkward modifying a brand spanking new one.
I don't think a jnr sounds boxy for home use at all. I bought a used one and put a better more efficient speaker in it and have even done small gigs with it.
I have a classic custom with baked maple and the neck feels and plays great. I will say that I wish it was a little darker as the guitar is black , but that's just personal.
Depends what guitar your putting them in too, early jnrs, single piece of realy old light wood will be a lot different from a maple caped les paul.
Also that clip has a hell of a lot of compression. If you play one of those straight into an amp they are monsters!
I bought the polytune mini. Seemed like a good idea at the time.
Unfortunately, my eyesight isn't what it was and I can't see the damn display. So its back to my hardwire.
One is a 2007 guitar of the month Deluxe goldtop that I have put some handwound P90s in ( big improvement ), the other is a 2012 custom classic that I replaced the black plastics with cream.
I play in a 60s and 70s covers band, and use a lp for heavier late 70s stuff and a strat for the cleaner stuff like Doobiebrothers , eagles etc. I find I can get a wide range of tones that way.

Always had no problem gigging this amp with Fender guitars, real easy to get a nice chimey clean sound, and an od pedal for dirt. However since I had my 57s equiped LP its hard for me to get a nice clean sound. Some people have advised turn the mids right up, some say all at 6. Just finding it a...
