Thanks for the info ;)
... Yes, I play a lot, too, with ... magnets swapping :)
For example, I have bought different pickups from Jim Wagner ( Crossroad, Darkburt and Godwood), and ask him to sell me lot of different magnets: A2,3,4,5 even 8 - but 8 is really too much for me.
And it's really...
Yes it has been messed because I put them on different guitars, with, without covers, with different covers ... ... But anyway it was mine and I was sure it was T-Top ;)
for the grey cable ...
I honestly don't understand: I came here BECAUSE I'm not at all an expert AND I needed expert advices.
... so really I am in no way a "smart-ass mofos": I was very well received, I delivered what I had seen and the little I knew and then some corrected me, gave me more information.
And so, I...
... I'm only talking about what I found: look at this set, it's from 1970.
The screws are Flat and the cable is much bigger than that of the "fake" pickup, the pickups of my ES335 1971 were identical.
And if not, I ESPECIALLY NOT insulted anyone: I exchanged with everyone, compared my...
Of course it's a fake:
1°) in the 70', there are not anymore philips screws,
2°) the gray cable is too thin like in present pickups ( see the right dimension in my pic )
so you can see here . Correct Gray cable, Flat screws.
And, as this vendor, I will not affirm that thet were "never opended"...
After some arguments to demonstrate that this is a fake ... I finally get my money back : OUF
So, with REVERB, you are really protected , a chance ;)
Thanks for your help guys ! ;)
I understand that these photos do not help BUT as I have already explained, I am negotiating with the seller and ALREADY he has yelled that I disassemble the cover ... so I do not see myself going further in disassembly: understand me.
Regardless of what we would discover inside, I still list...
there is some pics , I've tried to get but
without disassembling it further, it is impossible to judge more than that. I took a few pictures BUT putting a Bare Knuckle Stormy Monday (a nice little pup ) next to it and you can't see too much difference in the wooden spacer, the magnet, the tape...
the seller has already caused me a scandal because I opened the cover and thus devalued this pickup by desoldering the "original solders" (!) : so I can hardly take the risk of dismantling it further! There, if it is visible, it is certain that he will have an argument for a categorical refusal...
I understand your point of view ... but we are talking of a 500$ pickup :( ... so for this price,
I wish a real one EVEN if this one doesn't sound too bad !!! ( it read 7K7 on my meter)
Sure, you understand me ;) !!!!
... that's I will try to do and the reason that I need advice from musicians like you who can help me to BE SURE this is a fake, not at all a 1971 T-TOP !
Thanks for this advice anyway :)
I agree with a part of your answer;
. Yes ... I got jipped ... :(
. and yes I had better to ask before I buy
for the second part: I have tried and used several "Boutique pickups": and YES some are really good.
Throbak, Wolfetone, ... but specially Jim Wagner for example ( with his Crossroad...
... it's obviously far from being stupid as a remark, I admit it! But, in the announcement, the pickup was with its cover and SO, I could not expect to find these bobbins without "T" and therefore ask the question.
Otherwise, I would have done it and I won't be in this ugly enough situation!
So...
very interesting point of view: thanks a lot for these informations. We both agree about the solder, but i'ts a new track about "someone send the T and other marking ..." .
Thanks ;)
Hi guys ;)
I bought this pickup as a "1971 T-Top" and I receive this:
What do you think ? for me ... it's a fake: the "T" , the orifices with particular marks are missing, the plastic of the bobins seems cheap
The base plate with the label seems, at first , correct. The seller even said...
