Bo Diddley Style Guitar Lesson by Jonesyblues

Hi Jonesy, I remember when you first posted this video a few years ago. It's worth posting again, for sure. In fact, I was playing with the style last night while sitting outside doing a bit of grilling. Gave my neighbors something to listen to :)

    I'm baaaack!

Greetings all, I've been gone so long, for reasons I'd not wish on any of you. And now I'm back. I used to learn quite a bit, and give back a little in this sub-forum. Hope to continue going forward. This was always one of my favorite places....

    Has anyone used RiffStation

I see I caught you on your first post here. Welcome! I know off topic, but still wanted to welcome you to forum. There's a lot of good people here. Hope you enjoy it!

    Has anyone used RiffStation

I'd also consider Transcribe! It's an awesome program for transcription, let you mark multiple sections, each with their own eq, playing speed, etc. Very good in not changing pitch when slowing things down. Can change pitch as well which can be handy if you're trying to transcribe an old...

    Amplitube with combo amp

Can I install Amplitube Free and the Amplitube Fender product I just bought side by side (Win 7 64-bit, though all recording stuff is 32-bit). Did the Deluxe Reverb for the Free version cost anything? I'd hate to pay for it twice. Finally, how would you recommend I get the processed signal...

    Amplitube with combo amp

Thanks for responding. Glad to know the concept works for someone. I may get an Eleven Rack in the future but at that kind of money I may just save more for a better amp. The Blackstar is great since I live in an apartment and I can play without disturbing my neighbors. Still be interested...

    Amplitube with combo amp

Greetings all, Here is my gear: Blackstar HT-5R amp, Reaper for my Daw, Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 for my interface, various pedals none of which I use much. Amplitube Fender for amp modeling software. I like the Blackstar but prefer a cleaner sound and it's really geared more towards the high...

Barre Chords & Using Thumb To Fret Low E

In my opinion, everyone learns differently. The more people that post here and say that works for me, the more options for others to check out something new. Don't be surprised though if you decide, in the future, there was a better way :naughty: There is no right and wrong, generally...

Barre Chords & Using Thumb To Fret Low E

Totally understand. (and thanks for the kind words) Being the perfectionist that I am I just wanted to clarify a bit on what I'd written. And believe me, I'm no expert! This just happens to be the learning stage I'm currently in at the moment so all this is fresh and new to me. And quite...

Barre Chords & Using Thumb To Fret Low E

Thanks for responding to my post (I appreciate the fact that posting and giving your thoughts takes time, that goes for everyone and this here is a mighty helpful forum. I didn't call them partials because that leaves out the triads that can be done, in full, with three strings. Same with...

Barre Chords & Using Thumb To Fret Low E

True, true. If one placement results in the E or B hitting a crease at a joint in your first finger, just move your finger over so that doesn't happen. Took me a while to figure that one out.... BTW, love the hat in your previous post! Guitar too :naughty: Also, while I focus on learning...

    Chord theory questions

Thanks Huw, Just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing anything. And apparently I was not. Pretty cool how all this "stuff" (this post and the many others....) makes more and more sense as time rolls on. Kind Regards, Fleet

    Chord theory questions

Hi JonR, Quick question for you. I'm missing how the above follows the circle of fifths. Would not D be the fourth of A, G the fourth of D, etc. In other words it seems as if, reading left to right, it's moving in 4ths. Kind Regards, Fleet

Your house is on fire - which guitar do you rescue? ?

'57 Fender Duo-Sonic. Born the same year I was. The rest are much more easily replaceable.

    NGD! Fender Baja Tele

Why thank you Dave! Playing wise I've been on track, just haven't had the time for the forums as much. And, actually, the forums have helped me immensely on my journey so I've got to keep active. I can help, as well as learn! Kind Regards, Fleet

    NGD! Fender Baja Tele

Hehe, none of my other fenders, except my duo-sonic, weigh anything close to 6 lbs. I've got a Callaham trem block and bridge in my strat, that adds a lot of weight. My other tele feels like it was made from 7 pieces of lead :laugh2: but it sure does have the sound that I want one of my teles...

    NGD! Fender Baja Tele

I remember seeing some neck shape comparisons recently where someone had wrapped solder from side to side at the 1st and 12th fret and compared the "Soft V" to other profiles but I can't find find it for the life of me at this point. Just did a search and couldn't locate it. But, it is out...

    NGD! Fender Baja Tele

I don't have a scale for comparison but my impression is that the weight of my baja is light compared to a lot of LPs. (Mine included) Since this is first and foremost an LP forum I had to ask the question if my guitar is really considered "heavy". And if so, compared to what? Kind Regards...

    NGD! Fender Baja Tele

7lbs, 3oz is heavy? Serious question. All I know is that it's lighter than the rest of the ones I own. And I do like the neck indeed. It's a good fit for me. Not as thick as my LP worn brown though, at least it doesn't seem to be... Kind Regards, Fleet
