Crippling back pain / sitting position

Thanks for this. I’m actually going to try a variation on this theme: an elastic strap. Based entirely on one YouTube video and a few Amazon reviews. I’ll report back...

Crippling back pain / sitting position

Well-timed post. I’ve been playing standing since I made this thread, and it’s helped my back a lot. However, last week I moved my guitar up one notch on the strap, as I just look a bit weird where I have it now, and I can’t take it lower, so I thought higher it is! I’m now really aching and...

NGD: Gibson Les Paul Standard 60s Faded

Just a small update in case anyone ever buys a Faded model -- they mark VERY easily. I have two minor-but-noticable nicks on mine, even though I treat it almost like an ornament. I get even changed before I play to make sure I'm not wearing anything with a zip on. :laugh2: I'm not going to...

    Lead me not into temptation

Found a mint condition 2nd hand Gibson LP Tribute in a store for £650 (US$775). Only just spent close to 2k on an LP Standard last month.

I’ve always had a thing for girls with guitars. Yep, this is me:

Crippling back pain / sitting position

I’ve just spent $2k on a new LP, so please don’t try and tempt me to go out and buy another guitar. It’s already hard enough to resist! I haven’t weighed this one, but it was more than a normal standard, so I’m guessing between 9.5lb and 10lb. I don’t think it’s the weight, though, it’s being...

Crippling back pain / sitting position

Thanks for this. I can play a classical guitar in that position, but the LP body shape makes it really difficult imo. Likewise, sounds like your back is in worse shape than mine. For now, I’ll practice standing. Might experiment with different angles. If I’m going to be a world famous...

Crippling back pain / sitting position

I’ve started playing guitar for the first time in 15+ years and it turns out I’m creakier than I used to be. I play sitting down and my back is *killing* from being hunched over. Tried various ‘proper’ postures that I’ve found via Google search, but can’t find one that feels natural yet. 45...

Why do I keep listing and then at the end of the day I unlist my Gibson Les Paul?

If you’re any good at trading, you’ll make $2k in no time. If you’re not, you’ll lose less and still have your guitar. All the best.

Why do I keep listing and then at the end of the day I unlist my Gibson Les Paul?

I’d understand more if you were just going to buy the ETF btw. Not a YOLO, but at least it will eventually be worth more than you bought it for. Anyway, it’s bedtime where I am. Sorry if that wasn’t what you wanted to hear. Good luck!

Why do I keep listing and then at the end of the day I unlist my Gibson Les Paul?

Using puts and options in this way is basically gambling. The market is very volatile right now because literally no one knows how to call it. You have absolutely no edge whatsoever. Even if you’re right about the trend, you can be margin called and wiped out. If you make money, it will be pure...

Why do I keep listing and then at the end of the day I unlist my Gibson Les Paul?

Just to add to my post above, as it was a bit blunt. I spent a few hours today agonising over whether to buy a stock on my watchlist that had fallen 17% since open (and 85% over 6 months). I decided not to because there were still some things I couldn’t get comfortable with in its financials...

Why do I keep listing and then at the end of the day I unlist my Gibson Les Paul?

Are you trying to make a quick buck by punting on a stock you’ve read about on Wall Street Bets/Tik Tok etc? If so, the chances are that you’ll lose the money and the guitar. No offence, but logically, if you say you’re poor, it suggests you don’t know much about trading.

Talk me into buying a LP Standard instead of a Tribute

Just to close the loop, here’s my NGD thread. https://www.mylespaul.com/threads/ngd-gibson-les-paul-standard-60s-faded.475421/

NGD: Gibson Les Paul Standard 60s Faded

Well, my 60s Faded Standard has arrived. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice in my recent thread: https://www.mylespaul.com/threads/talk-me-into-buying-a-lp-standard-instead-of-a-tribute.475248/ I thought I’d give a run down on why I chose this guitar, especially since there’s another...

Regular 60s Standard or Faded 60s Standard?

There’s a pick guard in the case, you just have to drill the holes yourself.

Regular 60s Standard or Faded 60s Standard?

I agree that trying to save a couple of hundred dollars isn’t a good enough standalone reason to buy a Faded. But comparing prices to two years ago is a mistake imo. Does anyone expect prices to come down? If not, the ship has sailed.

Regular 60s Standard or Faded 60s Standard?

My Faded is due to arrive tomorrow. I like the satin feel and don’t think of it as unfinished, just different. I also like the idea of owning what is effectively a special edition. I’ll always be able to get a glossy LP if I want. But the main reasons were that I tried it in the store, it...

Talk me into buying a LP Standard instead of a Tribute

No, I didn’t want to carry it on the underground (subway) during rush hour, so arranged delivery.
