I just installed some copper shielding in a bass rewire I did, and I'm considering doing it for my electric (Tele). From what I can tell, installing shielding in a control cavity usually results in the shielding being grounded to the control pots.
My question is: doesn't this typically...
I understand that. For me I want the controls on the pedals in front of my feet, not back by my amp.
From what I've read, the buffer's job is to prevent signal loss over long cable runs. It would make sense to put it between your guitar and amp if you had long run between your guitar and...
Understood, that's why you can't just use all true-bypass pedals *everywhere*. My DL4 has a buffer that can be enabled all the time if I end up with a lot of cable.
Yeah, but the issue there is I have no individual control over pedals. I have a tremolo, a delay, + the comp and a tuner in...
Interesting. My amp has a efx loop on/off in the footswitch, so I can turn the whole loop off when I want to.
Yeah, comp in the front is pretty standard, but I found it works just fine in the loop. If I ever get a wah (or anything else) that I want to run pre-amp, I'll probably move my...
Hi all,
I'm ditching a lot of pedals and trading it for an amp: the Egnater Renegade.
I am keeping a small pedal board with some wet effects, delay, tremolo, etc. I also have a BYOC compressor that I'm also not selling.
I'd like to not have more than 2 cables to and from the...
I found an article by Jay Mitchell discussing using the acoustic foam cut into a donut shape for sound diffusion: Speaker Directivity Modifier :: TGP Webzine
I think the point isn't so much where you point your amp, but that you are in front of it when you EQ. The problem with that though is that it seems like if you tame the treble directly in front of the speaker, it has to cut a lot of the highs when you are standing off center from the speaker...
Looking at picking up an Egnater Renegade. Found some interesting articules at the end of the manual that might be of general interest here, presumably by Bruce Egnater himself.

Thanks, that's very helpful! In short: more of an angle after the nut, less energy loss.
It sounds like a shallow break angle would manifest itself in potentially weaker sounding strings, or more of an imbalance betwen the high and low strings (all other things being equal).
The flip side...
No, I totally understand. My situation is one where I can finagle some pedals here and there, but it's hard for me to justify a (nice) guitar purchase to my wife. The sub-$200 Xaviere that I upgraded the hell out of (new Wilde Pickups, RS wiring, new tuners) has been a good compromise.
I...
All things being equal (I know there are much better replacement neck manufacturers out there), which would you get, a replacement neck from Guitar Fetish (~$40) or a Mighty Mite off of Ebay (~$90 for a bare neck (no nut)) ?
I'm a bit afraid of cutting my own nut, so bonus points for the...
Probably a stupid newbie question, but can I assume that the fact that my neck is now warped came from the fact that I wasn't using my string trees? This is on a tele-clone.
Hi all,
It seems like I shouldn't have to ask, but where can I find single DC power cables?
I just picked up a Modtone Power Plant, and it's great, but it comes one cable short of the 7 dc outs in the supply (they pack two additional cables, one with a 9v battery snap adapter, and one...
