Took a year, but now I love my Standard 50's.

Woah, slow down hotshot, the nut situation lasted about a week and a couple of days, after I did the nuts on the other guitars and realized I can do better on the LP, and I did. Had I brought it to my tech at that point it would have taken 2 weeks to get back because he's in high demand, so I...

Is this 2005 Gibson Les Paul real?

Please let us know how the seller responds, I'm curious.

Took a year, but now I love my Standard 50's.

I know what you mean. I bought an old bolt on ESP Eclipse about 6 years ago, same pickups, but for some reason sounded kinda shrill. Could have been the bridge and saddles, not sure. Both of those pickups had the Gibson USA stamp on the bottom. I sold that guitar 2 years later. It's hard to...

Took a year, but now I love my Standard 50's.

Thanks, I hear what ya and I'm not surprised. Here are a couple of pics I just took. It looks like the Ice Tea 60's in bright light, but it's the Tobacco Burst.

Took a year, but now I love my Standard 50's.

I sold my Les Paul Studio Raw Power a few years back, and missed the fat neck on that guitar, despite being a thin neck guy. I love super strats, but when it comes to a Les Paul, I think a fat neck is very important. So, I bought a 50s Standard in 2020. I could never jive with it though...

Does the back grain pattern have any affect on resonance, sustain, sound quality, etc?

If you do pass it up, at least provide a contact person and serial number for those that are interested. Not me, that's out of my price range, but I bet people are following this one.

Does the back grain pattern have any affect on resonance, sustain, sound quality, etc?

Ooooh I love that!! I missed out on an LP Standard with a beautiful swirl. It sets them apart from all the rest that look like planks of lumber. If it were me I would jump on it, even if the tone "suffers" or "differs" a bit. After all, tone is subjective.

Why is Gibson using the wrong string spacing on the bridge pickup for the new standards?

Hmm, does your neck pole spacing measure 52mm? The bridge spacing looks right, not like my bridge burst bucker did.

Why is Gibson using the wrong string spacing on the bridge pickup for the new standards?

Didn't the classic come with the 496r/500t combo? Wouldn't that be different spacing for neck/bridge?

Amp tech just told me De-Oxit is a bad idea as a contact cleaner

For my mixer, I use deoxit fader cleaner, and follow it up with fader lube. You can really feel the resistance before spraying the lube. I never used the lube for pots, though maybe i should. I do wonder what to do with tube sockets, what about a brass pipe cleaner in a drill chuck, then...

Why is Gibson using the wrong string spacing on the bridge pickup for the new standards?

When I first bought my 50s standard, I viewed a ton of them online, and it drove me nuts that the pole pieces on the bridge pickups on most standards never seem to line up with the strings except for one or two of them, and these photos were taken dead on straight ahead on sites like sweetwater...

Mystery Gibson pickups from my '91 Explorer

Thanks for the reply, I measured them and the Gibson USA neck pickup is 9.03k and the Patent bridge pickup is 15.03k.

Mystery Gibson pickups from my '91 Explorer

Hi guys, a while back I pulled 2 Gibson pickups from my 1991 Gibson Explorer 76 reissue and threw EMG's in it. I decided to clean the Gibson pickups and put them in my new Les Paul Standard 50s. I had assumed that they were 496r and 500t, however they aren't labelled. The one with the patent...

Do not buy the D'Addario Auto Lock Strap

Yea I got the Allparts OG style from Amazon. I chucked the bridge end screw in my cordless drill and spun it around in 1 hand while holding the Dremel and grinding disc against the screw head on the other. If you don't wear glasses, then get protective glasses. My forehead definitely got hit...

Do not buy the D'Addario Auto Lock Strap

So, D'Addario has blamed Gibson, here is the response: Very sorry to see this – but sadly this is very common with Gibsons and such, not being treated properly with their curing processes on their finishes. It’s a delicate finish and can imprint to the touch when it’s not dried correctly. We...

Do not buy the D'Addario Auto Lock Strap

Thank you for the encouraging reply. I hit it with some Meguires Scratch X since I had it on hand, and got all but the deepest part of the scratch out. I'm going to pick up the virtuoso cleaner as well. In the meantime, I've gone ahead and ordered Schaller strap buttons like I should have done...

Do not buy the D'Addario Auto Lock Strap

I usually use Schaller strap locks but I bought the strap so that I didn't have to install them. This strap works with ordinary strap buttons. Turns out some guy on Amazon bought it for his R9 so he could keep it original. Same thing happened.

Do not buy the D'Addario Auto Lock Strap

Brand new guitar, few days old, brand new strap from Amazon, 1 hour old, here are the results. I've reached out to D'Addario to express my disappointment. That ring is a permanent scratch dug into the finish, it's not just skid marks from the protective rubber on the strap.

    Case for Gibson LPB-2

Can anyone recommend a form fitted case for the Gibson LBP-2 bass? I'm looking for something that is molded to the Les Paul shape, and not a generic foam-pick or empty rectangular interior.
