Why do customs have no flame but standards do?

Sorry, I forgot you were talking about a Standard, but I would think the same goes for a custom. Thanks

Why do customs have no flame but standards do?

Yes, I think the black finish covers the flame, assuming there is some. But if the black finish covers it, why waste good flame wood on something that will never be seen. And I would think that the whole "custom" thing at this point is just marketing if they are using studio grade woods. Any...

Why do customs have no flame but standards do?

As we all know, a Les Paul custom is the pinnacle of the lineup (most years, and of course this is a matter of opinion, but I think it would be an obvious unanimous vote). Gibson Les Paul Special AAA Flame Top with F-Hole Electric Guitar | GuitarCenter The one thing that sways me away is the flat top. 2015 Les Paul line Headstock Logo, hologram Etc.

I know a lot of people liked last year's 120th anniversary inlay thinking that in a few years (In a few decades) it would be worth some more than the original price. Does anybody think the same about the new hologram of Les and the headstock logo? Thanks--just curious.
