FS/FT Headstrong Royal Reverb (1964 DRRI Clone)

I purchased this new in October of 2018 and have gone back and forth on whether or not I want to let it go. It's an awesome amplifier, but I just don't have the time to enjoy it. For those of you who aren't familiar with this amp, it's a hardwired 1964 DRRI clone made in Asheville NC. All the...

NGD 1958 (2018) Gibson Les Paul R8 Historic VOS

Traded my R0 for an R8 and I couldn't be happier. I had a 2014 R8 a couple years ago and it was one of the best guitars I've ever owned. I sold it to fund a different project. I also felt the neck was a bit too thick. Anyway, I bought an R0 to try and recapture what I had with my 2014 R8, but...

Recommend Me Some Wireless Ear Buds

I'm looking at the Apple wireless ear buds and I'm not sure if they're worth the price. Some range from $50 - $150. Are they high quality? The regular ear buds that typically come with a new iPhone are okay, but I don't think they're worth $100+. I'd like to use these primarily for running and...

    Bending an Open String

To my understanding, there's only a few ways you can do this. You can bend the note behind the nut, or you can use a tremolo. Does bending behind the nut put any stress on the nut or other parts of a guitar? Seems a little unnatural.

NGD 2018 Fender Eric Clapton Stratocaster

I had one of these for a couple years and regretfully sold it, so I needed another one. I've had many Stratocasters and this model is by far my favorite. I love the compressed sound of the generation 1 noiseless pickups. I also really like the extra boost option on the tone knob.

    NAD Marshall DSL40C

I wanted to get an amp to use out of the house and didn't want to spend a fortune. I gotta say I'm pleasantly surprised by how good this amp sounds. I haven't had a chance to go through every setting, but the drive channel sounds great. Cleans are clear and have a nice chime. The only thing I...

Good Practice Amp With Headphone Out + Effects Loop

Looking for another practice amp with an effects loop and a good headphone out. It can be solid state or valve, but solid state amps typically work better with headphones. There's the Marshall DSL 1 but I'm wary of how it would sound with headphones. I've had the Blackstar HT-5 and older DSL 5...

    Odd Band Breakup

So I had joined a band as a rhythm guitarist back in January of this year. The group plays their own original songs and seemed fairly well established. All members had been playing together for over a year and I spent the first few months learning the songs and doing some light recording. We...

    Considering Lessons Again

So as I’ve mentioned in other threads, I’m an intermediate player who’s been playing about 6 years. I do play with a group and and I’m able to keep up fairly well. I know some basic music theory, but I’d really like to know more because I know there’s so much out there I don’t know. I’ve...

    Question For Police and Firefighters

Polygraph tests. Are they legit at all? I read they're supposed to be 80% - 90% accurate, but I don't see how this is possible. I watch a fair amount of real life crime shows and it seems like they're wrong more often than not. I took one once for fun and I passed even though I lied, so I have...

    Becoming A Better Rhythm Guitarist

Hey folks, So I've been playing for about 6 years and recently joined a band last January as a rhythm guitar player. Everything has been pretty good thus far, except one small issue. I've always practiced like a lead player. I spend most of my playing time soloing over backing tracks instead...

    PRS USA Line?

What PRS lines are made in the US? Is there a US model with a Floyd Rose? I've never entered the world of PRS, but I've always been curious.

NGD 2011 Gibson Les Paul 1960 Reissue Wildwood Edition

A little delayed, but I've been real busy lately. This showed up last week and it's a beautiful guitar. I love the top and the slim neck. This LP feels different than other Reissues I've played in the past. It feels like I'm playing a vintage instrument. I got this set up last weekend and plan...

What makes a pedal sound “harsh”

So I have a Boss DS1X that I use regularly. I like the pedal a lot, but it sounds really harsh when I get in the higher notes above the 12th fret on strings 1-3. It gets to a point where it’s uncomfortable and it hurts my ears. I don’t really think it’s because of too much treble/highs. It...

    Probably Just Being Paranoid

But I just got this guitar yesterday and want the opinion of MLP. This just looks like the wood grain to me, but some angles it looks like a small crack near the headstock. What do you guys think?

New Song - First Time Recording With Band

Forgive me if this isn’t supposed to go in the Backstage, but I wanted to share this song I recorded with my band last month because it came out really nice, and I did the leads, solo, and fills :). Check it out here:

    Call me a snob

I’m a believer in the CS models and Reissues. I had an R8 that I sold a few months back and I’ve been trying to replace it with a Traditional or Standard, but it just isn’t the same. My main reason for selling the R8 was for money, and the neck on the R8 was a little too thick for me. If I...

    WTB Gibson Les Paul R0

Looking to buy an R0 if the price is right. I had an R8 awhile back which I liked a lot, but the neck was just a little too thick. I’d like to try another reissue with a thinner neck. Let me know what you got!

Playing Along With Songs In Time

When you guys cover songs at home just for fun, how do you typically play them? Do you play them with or without a backing track of some kind? I used to always play them without any kind of backing track because I could only play certain songs in the correct time. Now after a few years, I'm...
