Not sure about the latest circuits, but the Daisycutter had four gain stages with the tone stack and master positioned before the last gain stage. If you add a second master at the end of the preamp, you have even more control of the gain.

Yep, it must have been a sleeper amp in the USA and abroad. Even here (western Canada), a customer's friends don't want to plug in to his modified YBA-1; they are interested only in Marshalls, Mesas, and the like. Eventually, their "holy shit" moments arrive....
