    Thoughts on Heritage guitars

I picked-up a used H150 Vintage (aged/relic'd) several weeks ago and like it a lot I've owned many LPs over the years (Standards, Studios, Slash, and a few Reissues) and I would say that the Heritage compares well or exceeds all but the Reissues. And even then, the Reissues don't totally leave...

    Ngd slash standard

Very nice! My Slash easily hangs with the two R0s that I've had. They're (Slashs) pretty awesome. I like them because they sound more immediate and hold together while playing harder rock than many of the LPs I've had eve the years.

    Which Kluson types?

Good point. I had forgotten that. That's exactly what I did with the previous R0 that I had. The guitar plays and sounds magnificent (looks magnificent as well), so I should just PLAY the damn thing and forget about how the headstock looks to me, but I just like an LP that looks period-correct...

    Which Kluson types?

I recently acquired a used 2012 R0 (S/N 0 2122). Wonderful guitar. It was previously owned by a local doctor with a habit of buying dozens of Reissues (and Customs and Standards), and swapping-out the pickups with Duncan Bonamassas (he's purchased and installed many dozens of Bonamassa sets) and...

    Hum when volume rolled down

I have the same issue with my various LPs, and live in an older house with crappy wiring. I don't experience the issue with my various strats. I just accept it because I have no clue how to solve the issue.

Pickup swap on 2018-19 LP Classic?

Very nice. I've been close to pulling the trigger on several Edwards' over the years. Still would, for the right one. A Johm Sykes and/or Randy Rhoads clone would most likely be the ones. Especially a Sykes. I think I missed one or two of those on ebay. If I wasn't locking into the most recent...

Wiring aftermarket pups into newer Classic?

Got my 36th Anni DiMarzio PAFs wired into the red Classic today. Will give a report on my impressions of the tones, a bit later tonight once I've been able to spend some loud time with her in the man cave.

Pickup swap on 2018-19 LP Classic?

Got the connector pigtails wired straight across, color-for-color to the DiMarzio pickups (as the ebay seller suggested when I messaged him) and everything works perfectly. I haven't spent enough time to really listen to the tone, but the couple of minutes of playing that I did, they sounded...

Pickup swap on 2018-19 LP Classic?

Yeah, I kinda figured that after I posted, so I went ahead and messaged him. I have the DiMarzio schemes that I can go on obviously, but since both connectors have different schemes on the Gibby PC board, there's no way to tell how exactly how the schemes are really supposed to be. If it comes...

Pickup swap on 2018-19 LP Classic?

Hello. I bought a pair of DiMarzio 36th Anniversary PAFs to swap out with the stock pups in my recent model LP Classic. I posed the question elsewhere on this forum about pickup swaps and it was suggested that I buy an aftermarket pigtails to wire the DiMarzios for, so I could use the existing...

    Dayummm... "new" R0 day...

Thanks. I've had nearly as many amps over the years as guitars. The Friedman JJ there is my 7th Friedman. My favorite rock amps by far. I had an older BE100 that was probably my favorite, but the newer BE100 Deluxe heads may be my new favorite. It's insane and I've been very close to bringing it...

    Dayummm... "new" R0 day...

Walked into my buddy's store today... taking one guitar back. I demo all kinds of crap from there, a perk of spending at least $100K over 30+ years, not to mention being one of my best friends. And somehow I walked out with that very same guitar (new Tom Anderson shorty Classic in candy red)...

Wiring aftermarket pups into newer Classic?

Sorry that my post was a bit confusing. The P90-equipped Epi LP will be staying the same. I already swapped the pups with a pair of Kent Armstrong noiseless P90s. I want to put a set of creme DiMarzio 36th Anniversary PAF humbuckers in the Gibby Classic... so that the color schemes on both...

Wiring aftermarket pups into newer Classic?

Roger that. Good info. Thank you. I am assuming that the Epiphone and Gibson quick connectors are the same? I think you're right... it would be nice to be able to swap back and forth. I just looked at some ebay listenings and do see that there are differences. I found my correct connectors and...

Wiring aftermarket pups into newer Classic?

P.S. The P90s in the Epi are a set of Kent Armstrong noiseless P90s that I put in there a few weeks ago. I dig them a lot. They may not have 100% of that regular P90 charm, but they are 90% of the way there and the fact that they are FAR less noisy than standards, makes them 150% better than...

Wiring aftermarket pups into newer Classic?

Hello forum. I've got a special edition Candy red Epi '56 LP with P90s that I love. And now it's got me thinking that I need to match up my 2018-19 trans red Gibby LP Classic that's got stock zebras in it (though I do like the way they sound)... by swapping those out with a pair of 4-conductor...

    What has happened to Taylor?

I've owned Gibson, Guild, Martin, and Breedlove (14 of the latter). I have owned no Taylors. And it wasn't because I hadn't played any or couldn't afford them. You have to spend $1K more on a Taylor than a comparable Breedlove, and the Breedlove will still have better mids and lows. Just my...
