Graham Bonnet only appeared on one album and Since You've Been Gone became Rainbow's first hot single. It was a big change for the group, especially after Ronnie James Dio left. This tune was big when I was a young man and I still dig it today.

I didn’t know anything about Rainbow until Straight Between The Eyes album.
Stone Cold is still a favorite of mine.
(Odd time of the guitar solo is so cool)

Bonnet, Dio, Turner, it was hard to remember they were all playing with Blackmore.
Took me a while to get it all figured out.

“In 1978, Bonnet turned down a job with glam rock stars Sweet, whose singer Brian Connolly had left the group.”

Man, I didn’t know that.
I wonder what could’ve been?

Sweet had some cool stuff, and I always thought they could’ve been as big as Def Leppard or Judas Priest - depending on which fork in the road they chose.

SBTE is a great album and the live show they released on video to promote it is amazing!

! was already a fan but when they aired that concert on MTV I became a Blackmore super fan.

I saw Alcatrazz open for Nuge at Great Adventure. Bikers were not happy with him and Yng. He mooned bikers and almost got his skinny ass kicked.

And then back to DP for a great album.

Being a Rainbow fan meant being ready for anything.

I like all three singers for the original run, and the vocalist Blackmore got for the one album Rainbow did after he left Purple for the second time was good too.
I did like Graham Bonnet with MSG, although the songs on the first two MSG albums are better.

Best albulm cover of all time IMO .....Rainbow rising. Rainbows used to be awesome.

Back story: Im from Staten Island. In the 70s we called people from Brooklyn .....Guidos because they all tried to emulate John Travolta from Saturday night Fever with his hair and clothes.

So in 79' we were all loving the new Rainbow on FM radio. New singer sounded great! ( no internet) We were watching MTV and when we saw the video........we were like WTF!!!? Rainbow has a guido for a Lead singer! This was in the beginning of The 80s.....DLR was leading the way back then. But then he hooked up with Yngwie and his stock soared again.
SMH how silly we were at 14.........

Rainbow Rising is one of the top-ten best rock albums of all time. I just heard Tarot Woman off it just yesterday. Just killer, killer stuff.

One of the foundations of my youth. Strangely......I was more attracted to Cozys playing rather then Ritchies. Cozy really died way before his time.

After Ritchie left Purple the last he reformed Rainbow with another singer, and no repeats on any other members
Some good stuff, but then he formed Blackmore’s Night.
