We always went kinda 'off season', never saw an open pool.

's all right, I was happy just to be the ice fetcher.

Late 60s/early 70s......the Holiday Inn was where we always ate breakfast anytime I had to go into town with Dad. Can still remember the stained glass panels in the dining room like yesterday. Just checked...still there, same location.

Finally got the couple of ragged SG fret ends sorted. While the board was taped up I took the opportunity to make sure the others were rounded, cleaned the frets with metal polish, then oiled the board. Feels good!

Another day.... coffee, please.

Those motel pix remind me of my childhood. Trips with my parents. Staying in motels where you drove right up to your room.

They had room keys like this :laugh2:

This triggered a memory I had long forgotten.
Back in early 80s a band I was with wound up in LA.
We had all heard wild stories about the famous "Riot/Hyatt House" on Sunset Blvd and so we stayed there for a couple nights. It was pretty laid back and nothing crazy was happening while we were there.
But I stole the keytag for my room. I turned in the key at the desk and told them the tag broke or something when we checked out.

Years later, I was read in a book somewhere that allegedly it was the exact room I had stayed in 1015, that Keith Richards and Bobby Keyes had tossed a TV set from the balcony years before. If only I had known I would have swiped more stuff from the room...LOL.

Staying in motels where you drove right up to your room.

That’s precisely what I look for now, if we’re not doing AirBnB.
There are still some nice ones around.

No valet bullshit.
Carry my own luggage 20 feet.
It’s a beautiful thing.

I HATE what hotels have become, even more than I hate what airlines have become.

Currently 84° in Beerconsin with air you can swim in.

This summer is a solid reminder why I hated outdoor gigs.

Gimme a single-digit dewpoint.
I’m happy.

People talk about humidity in percentages, and I just roll my eyes.
It’s called relative humidity for a reason - it’s all relative.
The heat index bullshit, the “feels like” temperature - it’s like listening to children.

Anything above 60 degrees F, all you need is the dewpoint number to KNOW how it’s gonna feel.

And that chart illustrates it very well.
