I was spraying some liquid wrench on the gate hinges and a wasp happened to buzz me.Hornets nest?
A spray can of WD-40 works great.
Especially if it’s on fire.
I hate bald face hornets! They do make cool nests though. I sprayed this one in September of 2023 and cut it down several weeks later. I now have it hanging in my cabin.

I used an entire can of a wasp and hornet spray. I waited until it was dark to be certain that all the hornets would be in the nest, then I started spraying at the entry hole and kept spraying until the can was empty. Not certain which brand I used as I keep several cans on hand and buy whichever brand is on sale. Here's some that I have on hand at the moment.Interested in the method here. You sprayed it with what? WD40? You saturated it until they moved out? How long did it take to saturate a nest of that size?
This thread is excellent info.
How does one apply cinnamon powder to a honeybee nest?
I used to use that wasp nest spray from Lowe's that has the can that shoots a good 20ft and seals them in - at least near as I can tell that was the methodology - it was a long time ago.
Yep.The nest was full of dead hornets. I have never seen them reuse a nest. Even a nest that I haven't sprayed will be vacant the following year.
I Bee-Lieve you! When it's a "real" "Bee Hive", a Bee keeper will be more than happy
to come and move the Queen (the colony will then follow)
to a new "Bee House" with drawers where he will collect the honey later.
Just so you know.
Not so fast, Honey!Spray foam!
Seal their doom!
Entomb them!
