Not the first time I've heard of that museum.
Would love to. Long way.
Always wanted to see that big ditch....
...and the painted desert....and the meteor crater.
Visit a ghost town...
Maybe someday, eh.

Dau & GDau have seen about all of that the last several days..... They're almost into Phoenix.... I think they are gonna have a chance to see some friends... The husband works with the Suns and has had my GSon out there that last couple of summers to get some training... He's retired pro and friends of the family.

They'll get on a sky bus late tonight to head back to ATL....

Titan Missile museum
Been there TWICE.
Amazing experience.

Second time with an old man docent who was a Cold Warrior in those very missile installations.

I’m already pretty aware of the history involved in all of that, but that old man could really provoke some thought.

Probably the guy we had... "Rex"
About our age, he likely spent a good part of the mid-80s down there.

been to pima, photo'd the same plane. main difference, the A-12 had weapons, the SR-71 didn't. few other than nasa planes had 2 seats.
Two days.

And another half day for the Titan Missile museum.

If you don't mind ladders, take the time for the full tour that goes to the bottom of the silo.

yeah, it's the replacement of those minute mans that has pushed the Nunn Mcurdy to the brink lol.

All of the '71s had two seats, but the RIO only had two small windows and a periscope. I imagine the windows were only to alleviate claustrophobia with no forward view.
They built a trainer from the remains of a crash that had the full rear canopy.

There is a 2-seat A-12 trainer... it's on display in Los Angeles at the science center that has the Endeavour.

The two airframes were similar, but not identical.
The SR-71 had a takeoff weight limit about 50,000lbs higher than the A-12, and the empty weight of the SR-71 was 15,000lbs higher than the max landing weight of the A-12.
They both had the same wing planform, the SR-71 being about 5ft longer (the added nose length for the rear seat)

They built three YF-12, that were intended to be interceptors. It was a true twin-seat version of the A-12, but never went into production.
This is the one that could carry armament. The A-12 and SR-71 were purely photo recon.

Sunday Texas coffee on. Yesterday was a good day. Adjuster visit went very well. Good guy. Seemed to be on our side. Didn't nit-pic. Gave some good direction and definitions on how to proceed. Crazy government type stuff I guess you'd expect on what's not covered that should be, but also what is covered that surprised me. I'm optimistic there. I think the building will be fine. Haven't stumbled onto any coverage that does me/operations any good though. Gonna be a bumpy road, but it'll end up OK I think. Had some business yesterday. They're starting to come out of hiding. Teams did some searching on the property yesterday. That process in itself takes the first step in debris cleanup. They sorta redistribute piles. It also cracks the door hopefully leading soon to us being allowed to touch some stuff and get it off the property. In other news, that boy comes back today. He's been on a trip with his dad that's been on the books for months. He wanted to stay, but we convinced him to go. It'll be great to have him back. It'll also be nice to have someone fresh and re-charged around the place who doesn't have this last week's wear and tear on em.

Good to hear @Pop1655
Sounds like things are going your way.

My hat is off to you, and all of your gang.

My day is over. Night at the gas plant was routine and uneventful.
Play with the cats, chat with the wife, and get some sleep. Do it all over again this evening.

Morning guys. Pleased to hear it's going well Pop.

We've spent the day so far defrosting and cleaning the freezer. This rock'n'roll lifestyle is tough to keep up sometimes, but we do our best. Enjoy your day all.
