VHT made a pretty bitching 18W 1x12 Combo in the same vein as these Marshalls. I have one and it's definitely my go to small gig amp!

Great new-manufacture speakers in that thing! :thumb:

How're the old filter capacitors? If they're original they're overdue for replacement (presuming you want to play the amp, as opposed to a museum piece). Sheet, if it's a 1969 the old filters could've been replaced and the REPLACEMENTS could be overdue!

Gotta love an 18 Watt Marshall, and 2x10 is just awesome in nearly any combo. Great amp.

I owned this same amp about 8 years ago and had new filter caps installed back then. I believe that two people have owned this amp since then.

The filter caps still look good, but the amp will definitely go to my tech soon.

The amp sounds so much better now with the new speakers. It still had the original speakers in the amp when I last owned it. I don’t recall keeping it very long back then.

I’ll probably add a second Gold and replace the Greenback.

Are the original speakers worth much?

Would they be better if re-coned by a highly regarded speaker expert?

Don’t change the filter caps unless there is an issue with them. They are most likely original blue Daly’s and function fine. I have several original plexi and early metal face amps. They all have the original filters and function fine. Changing them will most definitely change the tone and feel of the amp guaranteed. Don’t know the status of the amp, but it looks mostly clean on the outside. If it’s all original and untouched on the inside it is a highly collectible piece. Get yourself a variac and use it for startup and lowering the wall voltage. I’d run a small fan on it too. Super nice score!
