OP here again.
In 2024 I added two more SGs. :thumb:

Last summer a '05 SG Classic and a brand new TV Yellow SG Standard for Christmas.

I did a pickup and harness swap in the Standard.
Wolfetone Pickups, Timbre Wolf bridge and a Marshallhead neck.

1999 was the very first year of the SG Supreme. They came in two finishes, Fireburst and Emeraldburst. I prefer Fireburst. The first year they only came with P90A pickups, which sound like ass. And that's why mine sports Throbak 52/54 P90s.

If it's okay to include Epiphone variants, please allow me to present my 2022 Standard.

I made a minor adjustment to the bridge so it would play the way I wanted it to...

Well, I'd say you must have eliminated any neck dive...

I can’t find any info on Gibson P90a pickups… Do you have any more info you care to share other than you didn’t like them? It’d be good to know as I’m always keeping my eye on potential purchases with supposed straight P90s.

A bit. They were stacked magnets to cancel hum. The bridge was stacked in the pickup rout and the neck had one stack in the neck rout with the second stack affixed to the underside of the electronics cavity cover.

I'm not very good at describing the tones I do or don't like. The P90As have been described as "sterile". The Throbaks I replaced them with sound more "full" to me.

Thanks for the info. It makes purchasing a 'vintage' (eg. 90s) Special a bit hard, as sellers only seem to list them as P90 or P100.

Probably because they don't know. I didn't know either. I was told they were P-100s. And, to be fair, the pickups in my SG Supreme weren't horrible. They just weren't awesome. The bridge pickup had become microphonic and that just gave me the excuse to swap them out and i got a killer deal on the Throbaks so I yanked out ALL of the electronics and replaced the entire thing. I saved all of the other parts so they can easily be put back into the guitar but I sure wouldn't knowing what I know now.

Love that ebony stain finish. It’s a difficult color to capture in pics.

Here are my two 2001s. One is stock and mint, and is my current favorite.

That other was pretty worn when I got it so I felt ok modding it. The last pic shows how little wood had to be removed for the humbuckers. The double-black 490T died so I put in a zebra version I had on hand

Got back into an SG after about a year. Missed how much I like them. Fret access is unmatched.

Got this USA 61 reissue a couple days ago. Absolutely love it! I actually dig the 60’s Burstbuckers. Suits the barking and snappy nature of the SG.
