For me the Seymour distortion pickup in the bridge made my guitar too harsh and bright. I just wasn’t getting a sound I liked. I have an Ltd m 87 with the same pickup and it works well in that guitar. I put Dimarzio D Activators in it and it was ferocious and surprisingly less bright. Then Guitar Center screwed up an order bad enough that I got the Antiquities for free. I was going to put them in Les Paul dc(my avatar) but I am glad I put them in this guitar instead.
This is through a Boss mini Katana
Did you add a pickguard to the Adam Jones Custom?

Yes the widow has a good flame to it so I took that pickguard and put it on this. I used to own a black Gibson custom that I stupidly sold. So my Les Paul’s with flame tops are no pickguard.

Epiphone has really been stepping it up the last couple years, and they’re not slowing down. I especially like these dealer exclusives, some really cool stuff.

You said it! And it's not only the $1299 models, this Cobra Burst Custom plays and sounds amazing. I'm especially impressed with these Probucker Custom pickups.
A guitar like this would have cost a LOT more $ when I first started playing.

I’m guessing PBC at the beginning implies Probucker Custom. The 2&3 set are clearly marked as such, those look different.

Yes those are customs. We just had this discussion about the same guitar, I believe, because Trogly called them 2s & 3s, also. He was showing a blue one.

I had considered installing a SD in my Adam Jones, but the Probucker Custom in the neck position sounds good. What made you wanna swap it out? Just curious...
What you mean ProBucker Custom? Adam Jones has Custombucker in the neck and SD SH-6 in the bridge.

IMHO Epiphones Probucker are good, they have wooden spacers, and I like their tone. Pity they cant be bought standalone.

These are the original pickups from my AJ. The difference seems to be the 2 wire as opposed to the 4 wire in the new pro bucker customs, either way they are good pickups and not just “good for Epiphone.” I change pickups sometimes out of boredom with the guitar’s personality, sometimes just to make it my own looks and sound wise, sometimes because the electronics are cheap and don’t sound good. At the end of the day it’s my crummy fingers and lack of talent that makes it sound like me.

Sure they can. Epiphone sells them and there are lots of them on Reverb, even Amazon sells them

I have the Adam Jones Art Custom, Veil of Bees. They came with a Seymour Duncan pickup in the bridge position and an Epiphone Probucker Custom in the neck position.

So did you swap the pickups in your Adam Jones? If so, what did you put in? I'm just curious..

Yes, I tried a few sets, and it has had the Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups in it now for over a year.

Good to know. I'm real interested.
I would HIGHLY recommend this Les Paul to any player. What surprised me most is that I got a floor model guitar and it was setup almost perfectly. All I needed to do was oil the fretboard and put my favorite strings (Elixir) on. It's staying in tune perfectly and plays like a champ. Plus, it's hard to stop looking at, probably the best looking Epi I've ever seen.

AMS / Zzounds currently has a bunch of Customs in some exclusive finishes, really good looking. I believe they all have those same pickups in them also.

Yeah, I've been looking at those online. Same guitar with different finishes. They all look really good. Happy shopping! Let us know if you pull the trigger.

If i didn't already own this Cobra Burst, I would probably order the Ice Tea Custom from AMS. I've had all good experiences ordering from them.

I’m quite the amateur, even at my age. I fall in love with a guitar and buy it. Then I fall out of love and sell it. I tend to lose my ass every time I sell an Epi. As nice as they are, the resale on them kinda sucks. I recently sold off two of them after buying a Gibson. I will only grab another Epi if the deal is too good to pass on. When the buzz started about the Widows, I loved the look of the yellow one, or amber(?), and that’s the one that isn’t available in the States.
