Just when you thought Dave Friedman had exhausted what he could do with the hot-rodded Plexi concept, here comes the Jose. Unveiled today, this 100-watter takes a 60s Plexi-ish foundation and adds a bunch of Jose Arredondo's most popular mods. The result is a pretty impressive range of tones, albeit all in the same general flavor and requiring a fair amount of tweaking to stretch out:

On another note, Mike Nielsen is great at creating demo vids. He's one of those guys who could probably sell suped-up toasters if he tried.

Worth noting that Dave is paying royalties to the Arredondo family, making this a true signature amp. Dave felt it was important to honor the man in the proper way unlike others including Marshall who recently put out their "subtly hinted no-name modded" amp.

BTW, a 20 watt version of the Phil X amp is coming out soon also according to my local dealer who is trying to organize a clinic to coincide with the release.

Great sounds in that video, high quality demo. Always love when it kicks off with some actual playing and not just 10 minutes of talking about it.

There's an email signup on the Friedman site for when these amps become available - I don't think they're for sale yet.

I signed up as soon as the site allowed people to. Still haven’t heard any further updates.

Thankfully I have absolutely no use for a 100 watt valve amp. Where the **** would I ever get to play it in this day and age? I can't find a price anywhere for it either, and I doubt I could afford it therefore.

I look forward to the "watching TV whilst widdling" promo vids, though.

I have no use for ANOTHER 100 watt Marshall. Doesn't matter, I'll crank it anyway and to hell with what the neighbors think!!!

It's probably priced above the Friedman Steve Stevens signature model, which lists for about 4100. Too rich for my tastes. I'd still take one at a lower price. Like I need it....I really don't.

For my skill level, my MG15MSII Microstack is a luxury item. I really need to practice more, but buying gear gives instant gratification.

So far I've owned two Friedman's (a Little Sister and a Runt 50) They both sound really good but they seem to lack the bite and rawness of my Marshall's. Smoother, more refined..... great amps just not what I'm looking for.

Maybe I just need to try some different ones.

They all have that characteristic. The JEL-100 and the dirty Shirley had it the least out of the bunch.
