Damn... that's horrible!!!

Exact same plane we flew, both ways, to Europe last week.

253 souls on board, reports are no survivors.

We sat there and watched the herd walk past us while they were boarding. I have flown a lot, but I have never been on a plane with that many people.

I cannot imagine the horror.

So sad.

That video sure raises a lot of questions for me.

Low and slow and then possibly a stall into the ground. Or low and slow followed by CFIT.

Why low and slow just following takeoff? No fuel?
Water in the fuel? Looks like neither engine is making power in that video. One engine alone has the power to bring it back to the airport if the other engine had a malfunction. But both engines out? That screams fuel starvation to me.

I think Boeing is probably in the clear on this one.

Years ago I spent some time working with Air India, in Bombay and New Delhi, and told myself then that I’d never ever fly with those chaps!

Especially after the cook made soup with marijuana leaves steeped in for a flight crew!

The model of plane. We flew on AA, not on Third-World Airline.

If it was "the" plan, I'd be in a drunken stupor right now.

It crashed into a medical college and attached hostel for the medical students. Crashed right after takeoff, so was full of fuel (presumably a lot of fuel for a long flight...)

I could be wrong, but it looks like there were no flaps extended. If so, we had a similar thing happen at Detroit Metro Airport in the early 1980s, Flight 255, all but one killed.

I just flew in Monday from Sarasota and I tell you ,, it’s always in the back of your mind ,, the FAA, OSHA, DOT, TSA, stuff we put up with is so well worth it all … Can you imagine the horror of knowing its going to happen and you are helpless …

IT was just updated that a single English man survived the crash ,,,

According to reports, they were airborne for about 5 minutes, so the flaps would have been retracted from takeoff position at that point.

The flaps and landing gear are retracted about the same time following takeoff.

It could be a cargo load shifted aft during climb out, but it still looks like the engines were not at a climb power setting in that one video we’ve seen.

I expect the answers will be forthcoming soon.

This would be far more entertaining with slo-mo video showing the explosion and body parts flying everywhere.

Was living by Middlebelt Road in Garden City when that accident occurred.

When I saw the Air India footage and it's failure to climb I had the same thought as you.

MLP will get to the bottom of this.
