Lexus & Mark Levinson

My daughter just bought a Lexus and the damn thing has a Mark Levinson sound system. I'm gob smacked! I didn't know such a thing existed. For those of you who don't know Mark Levinson, he is at the pinnacle of audiophile power amps. His line-up includes things like $50K poweramp mono-blocks.

I'm a huge fan but have no desire to own an ML power amp as they are virtually unserviceable by mortals. And like so much of the "audiophile" gear, you can only see how great it is on an oscilloscope since your ears can't hear the difference.

Anyway, I can't wait to tell my daughter about the bragging rights she now has. She's never heard of Levinson.

Was he also behind "blade" guitars ?

Damn! Yeah, she does have bragging rights!!! I just hope she doesn't play any disco on it. I bet dark side of the moon would sound nice....

Meanwhile I'm putting in a kenwood excelon cd player with a blue tooth. And some vintage rockford fosgate. My ears ring, so I need to overcome it with some force. New head unit was only $200. Amp I got about 30 years ago. Oh..... Such a long time ago. USA made amp!!!

I wonder if that levinson car system is Japanese, or even USA?! How may speakers? What size is the subwoofer? It must sound great!

I'll look into this more deeply. I'm now curious if Levinson designed something or just put his name on it.

i knew that was an option for a long time but in full disclosure I had to look it up

We used to install ML sound systems in our 60 million dollar jets. They were that good.

Probably sounds better than the B&O system I have in my F-150. Which ain’t bad btw.

Considering the sticker on a LX700h, Lexus should have sent old Mark to my daughter's house to show her how to use it! Despite the fact he hasn't been associated with the company for decades.

My 06 LX 470 has it. Sound good.

Harmon owns everything.

The Levinson audio kit back when I was selling it was awesome. SO well built, and sounded the business. Would that I could have afforded to own it...

the Lexus my dad bought for my mom had a Mark Levinson sound system in it. It was glorious.

they used it to listen to talk radio. SMH.
