Ironically, more than one person mentioned the "Gulf of 'Merica" to us so far...LOL.

I'm getting horse apologizing for our insanity :laugh2:

I have a couple of really great stories, one of which includes getting our lunch paid for, based on a conversation about all that shit. But, I'd get insta-banned for them :laugh2:

We made a few friends at the pub in Richmond!!!

Oh, and I just met a guy out front of our hotel with a Ferrari Aperta... he was leaning against it, smoking a cigarette. I asked him if the owner knew he's doing that. He laughed his ass off, and said, "Good one, mate."

Fuck me. Wow!
"Gulf of North America" would be fitting.
Mexico is a part of North America, and I haven't measured, but pretty sure there are at least as many miles of coastline in the US as in Mexico.

Yeah … but I think we missed a great opportunity to be inclusive.

How about make it plural?
“Gulf of the Americas”

Makes sense even to me, and I’m about the last sumbitch to ever be accused of being tolerant and inclusive.

Eh … what does it matter?
Mexico will be offended regardless.
Forever.

An argument could be made that the Gulf is a part of the Caribbean, which would then include Central and South America, but it seems like when references are made to "The Americas" they are nearly always referring to Central and South America.

US-America just happened to name this collection of states after the continent.
United States of America
United States of Mexico
I'm sure there are others... And as with the others, we have elected to refer to ourselves in the context of the suffix.
In our case, the full name is needed to distinguish between other American states, and other countries using the "United States of" prefix
But it's awkward, so we simply say "America"

That isn't how it was originally before the annexation ;)
I didn't know that "Mexico" is not its official name, its the United Mexican States.

So you're saying there is a Gulf when it comes to opinions about the appropriate way to name the body of water in the middle of the land mass?

I think they use that one to pound on the sidewalk starting at about 7:15 AM. :laugh2:

The tree fenced off in orange is mostly dead and maintained by the county. They left notice they will be removing it. About time. I will hold my breath while they do it, though.

Wow, when you don't visit MLP for almost 5 days, and the Unread is almost overwhelming.

Just back home after the funeral and military service for my father-in-law. We stayed in his home, my wife's childhood home. I took these pictures standing just outside the back door. On Long Island, NY.

He used to have the lake cleared of most of the floating vegetation, but some environmentalist sued him. There was a LOT MORE wildlife when it was cleared.

They started pounding the ground at 7:15 AM this morning. :laugh2: :eek2:

I wish they removed the tree before laying the concrete. But that would make too much sense (although probably not logistically prudent). :dunno:

I am tempted to take Callie out to walk through the fresh 'crete.
