Three days into my LP Standard 60s ownership I did something I don't do lightly. I peeled off the pickguard protective plastic cover film. It usually takes me quite some time due to primarily two reasons:

- I might want to return / sell it.

- I might like to have the extra scratch protection to keep the pickguard pristine for some time.

But with this one I pretty soon felt differently. I wanted it fully exposed in all its glory. Pickguard scratches are just good signs of a guitar that one loves to play. And there's no question about returning or selling it. This is really the LP I've been looking for for years!!!

For a treat, buy a Custom guard in black.
Multi-ply, giving you a white border trim.
Give that a try, see what you think.

I usually wait until I’m sure I’m gonna keep a guitar before I take the plastic off. That didn’t take long with my 50s Standard either. So I get it.
