Vintage tweed Les paul case?

Recently got a 50s tweed case that originally had a 50s Les Paul Standard Gold top in it. I know I have seen other vintage Les Pauls in the past that had tweed cases too. While not standard Gibson issue, it must have been at least offered by another case company as the only it seems to fit is a Les Paul. I bought it thinking it fit my duo Jet but it does not.

Any info?

That’s interesting, I saw something similar once. To me it’s unsurprising that back in those days some retailers would have sought out alternative suppliers for cases.

The cases were always sold separately to the guitars anyway, and were very expensive compared to what people are prepared to pay for a case nowadays.

Perhaps a case for the Guild Aristocrat ?

pictures? I once had a tweed case for a Les Paul. Unfortunately, I loaned out a Historic case and never got it back (long story, not interesting though) so when I got laid off in 2003 and (foolishly) sold off my stash of guitars, the tweed case went away. It was a limited run (haven't seen any since) with a light blue interior and sharp looking as all get out. The few I've seen for sale since have been in the 4 digit range. For a non-vintage case !!

Oops, I just re-read your original post and saw that you tried your Duo Jet in it and it doesn't fit, so that rules out the above.

Frank, exactly like that one, but for a Les Paul. I saw a few over on the LPF in years gone by. Wondering what it may be worth.
