No....not Springsteen

My boss at the theatre. Every year he asks me to collaborate with him to perform a song for the company. This year it's Hotel California.
He's taking the Don Felder parts and I'm taking the Joe Walsh parts (yeah! Love Joe :thumb: )
Anyway, some of you might have seen my Building Les Pauls series on Youtube back around 2017. One of those guitars went to that man....my boss.
It was lovely to see it again....the cherry burst is fading nicely.

Both Felder and Walsh parts. Dang brother, that's a lot of nose candy to get those parts right.
Yeah, it's deceptive. The playing is not really technically difficult. It's all about feel in the smooth phrasing and bends for Felders parts, and the fiery attitude of Walsh's parts. And tone. This is a perfect example of tone from the hands. Both those guys play with command and authority. The way they attack the strings....control of micro-pitch in their bends etc. It all adds up. Didn't even mention the phrasing precision in the harmony lines. Will be fun!
Are we going to hear it?
I'm sure there will be some phone video at least. The performance is scheduled for August....so we have some time to work on it.

At a show i went to, there is a local band with a second guitar player, who covered the vocals AND guitar parts really well on Hotel Cali. Not an Eagles fan, but the tune was performed...top shelf, and i thoroughly enjoyed the performance. I like him better than the first guitar player.
The band does primarily Canadian material, and this guit man obviously wanted his tune in (Hotel). good on him. Lead singer had to sit out the tune...bet her dander was ruffled.

Thing is, so i've observed, after going back to repeat shows, there is a constantly rotating set of guitar players in this band, supporting the AWESOME female lead singer. There is probably a story there. She is amazing. The tumultuous life of band politics and in and out players.

Last show was good, 2 new guitar players on digital floor boards, direct to board. :hmm:
That may be the real story. Their sound ( and vocals) were spot on that night.

good luck on the august show FG.!
