There's one of those just 5 minutes up the road from me. I always thought it's bad enough he's deaf. Don't make fun of him because he's not as good an athlete as the hearing kids. next sign is gonna read: "Slow, Angry Deaf child".

This reminds me. I was working in an apartment complex while I was in San Rafael. I was inspecting a transformer. I had to yawn so I stood up and did a yawn/stretch. This young lady in her mid 20s came running out of an apartment. She quickly approached and asked me "Are you okay??" She said it in a way that I knew she was deaf. So, I looked straight at her so she could read my lips. "Yes, I'm fine." She asked me "THEN WHY WERE YOU SCREAMING???"

This one is rather ubiquitous in my parts ...

The lost arts of punctuation and phrasing.

Back when they invented BMX there was racing. Over time the slow children invented freestyle. Real BMX is racing. But in a little while the slow ones took over. Freestyle. They got all the money. The fame. The girls. Magazine covers.... The racers were left behind to train, lift weights, start taking steroids. Fight in the parking lots. 10 guys at the track talking trash... 3 people in the stands watching. Trying to sell stuff. Hot dogs. Mtn. Doo. Old junk parts. It all dried up.

The slow ones got the last laugh.

I see those signs all over the place. And kids sitting there looking down at something. Some laughing. None running in the street.

My niece is deaf. When she was little my sister had a sign put up because my niece loved to play outside and people would fly down her street. My sister was divorced and started dating a guy. She decided to bring him to her place and he saw the sign and made a comment about how funny it was that the kid was slow AND deaf. He couldn't understand why she dumped him over it
