He has some good stuff there. If you like that sort of thing.

Somehow, I saw them around 96/97 in a 400 person capacity club in a suburban strip mall, Jaxx in Springfield, VA.

That was one of those unicorn moments for me.

So good. Belly right up to the stage right in front of Rick. We caught about 100 picks each that night.

I saw them at a 2000 seater after "In Color..." came out, '77.
Stole the show from Spirit and Styx, I thought; and they were both great, too.

You know a band's good when you don't know a single tune, and they grab you.

And these guys can still bring it. I wanted to see these guys forever. I finally did September 8 2023. Robin Zander can still hit all the notes. Cool band.

Rick played ALL of the guitars, even in this little club, Robin played the Rickenbacker Transonic Amps, Tom played the Hamer 12 string bass.
We played on a bill with them around that time. (Summer of 96)

Those Transonic cabs were Tom’s. I remember being kind of in awe of them.

Here’s me and a borrowed Twin in front of those monsters. :)

I’ve been a fan of those guys from nearly the beginning. I lost track of how many times I’ve seen them live, but they are always fantastic. Does anybody know why Bun E. Is no longer with the band? I’ve never heard an explanation from him or the band. He just said something to the effect that he was replaced without warning. He said he didn’t care as long as his 25% checks kept showing up in the mail. Then they quit showing up, and he had to take legal action. He got everything straightened out, and he’s getting his money. I’d still rather him be behind those drums, but that’s apparently not happening.

Bun E. Carlos left Cheap Trick in 2010 due to a combination of disagreements and a lack of communication with the rest of the band, including singer Robin Zander. A major issue was a dispute over how many Las Vegas performances they should undertake, which Carlos was overruled on, leading him to leave. He also had a significant personality conflict with Zander, and Zander even threatened to leave if Carlos stayed. The situation escalated further when the band stopped contacting him about business decisions and payments, culminating in a lawsuit in 2013.

"We were offered 100 Sgt. Pepper shows in Las Vegas with a huge back-end," Carlos explained. But Zander "only wanted to do 50. I said, 'Why do you only want to do 50?' He said, 'I have to take my daughter to kindergarten in September. I don't want her to go to school in Las Vegas.' I smartly replied something like, 'We're scheduling shows around your daughter's kindergarten classes?' Then he was like, 'F--- you, you f---ing a--hole.' Then I just hung up the phone." As Carlos noted, "Me and the singer don't get along very good."

Carlos pointed out that he hasn't spoken to his former bandmates, outside of courtroom proceedings, since then. They ultimately worked out an unwieldy agreement in which Carlos remains part owner of Cheap Trick, earning regular stipends, but he doesn't actually play with the group. That is, until next April, when Carlos now confirms the co-founding four members will take the stage together.

Still, a recent court action – brought by Carlos when he said "the check stopped coming" – only served to further chill relationships. The idea of appearing more regularly with his old band, he admitted, has never seemed more remote.

"I don't see it happening," Carlos said. "Rick's kid got a gig here, and Dad loves that. ... Even besides that, any friendship we had went away when I had to file a federal lawsuit. That cost a bucket of f---ing money. Going after these guys wasn't pleasant. The friendship sort of frittered away there."

Same. Me and wife number 1 saw them open for Foreigner in Sept of 1977. What a great show. CT was brand new to me.

friend of mine, originally from illinois, talked me into a day time trip to Boston one Thursday afternoon ~1978. We went to the Paradise club (I think). Matinee show. Emcee comes out "Ladies and Gentlemen, The Cars." I was like "Really? You dragged me here to see The Cars?"

Seldom have I seen such a dispirited show. False starts, missed counts, playing different songs from each other. Finally, about halfway through the fourth song, they stopped (yet again) and left the stage.

A dude in a cardigan and a ridiculous baseball cap came out and picked up a guitar, and blew the roof off the place. WTF? Then an accountant with the high water pants, white shirt with pocket protectors, glasses with tape on the bridge gets behind the drums and rocks out. Thus I was introduced to Cheap Trick. Didn't know a song, became instant fan.

I played the hell out of this album..

The background noise on that album with the crowd trying to join in was crazy.

They like them some Cheap trick.

I saw My first hard rock show when I was 14. It was Dynasty era KISS, and Cheap Trick touring Dream Police. (At the Pontiac Silverdome) Not shitty.

DuringCT’s set Tom played Simmons’ axe bass on a song.

He generally posts new material every Monday. Sometimes shows, sometimes outtakes and soundchecks, sometimes early stuff with Xeno and even some pre-CT stuff. I look forward to it every week,

I saw them first in 90 when they opened for Heart. My guitar teacher at the time sold me a bunch of his old records and I bought the first 4 studio LPs. I liked the songs but I didn't like the production on some of the stuff. Guitar teacher told me to see them live and I'll get it. He had seen them when they were still playing clubs around here (Milwaukee). He was right. Their live energy was off the chart. I've seen them at least a couple dozen times, by far the most I've seen any band.
