... does it have hollowing to help with the weight?
Up to now, I've have not heard of Epiphone doing that. The only one I know of, is the chambered LP Ultra, which is not made anymore.

The veneer Mahogany back sure helps. Are the pieces inside Mahogany and does it have hollowing to help with the weight?
The only veneer is the flame-maple top. The top is still a proper full maple top but plain with only a maple flame veneer. The mahogany body is a proper two-piece body with no veneers.

Interesting. It looked like a one piece back so I though it was veneer. Every epi I have seen that looked like that had a veneer back.

I am not an Epi expert. I never knew they veneered the 'hog body. Maybe I am totally wrong ...
I am not an Epi expert myself. Never personally owned one. A friend had a couple that he did some work to. They were high end expensive Epiphones that he bought for nice tops and backs. He wanted a nitro finish on them for whatever reason. They were a tad heavy too so he decided to take a little bit off of the back since he was already sanding. To his dismay the back was a veneer and messed up all of his plans. There was actually 3 pieces underneath and they matched horribly. This was several years ago, however, and things may be different on this model. Probably impossible to know for sure. The original specs listed on his guitars were solid mahogany body. It was solid mahogany, but pieces of solid mahogany under a mahogany veneer.

The mahogany is also not the same and the Honduran or African mahogany that Gibson has used over the years. You can read about it at the following link.

Try googling - epiphone mahogany east indian veneer back
