First time I went CA, I went by myself. I believe it was 1989. I flew into SFO, and had a rental car. Where I rented the car was adjacent to a neighborhood. I literally got to my first or second stoplight after driving away from the rental car company. Standing on the corner was a woman that looked like Mama Cass, wearing glasses.

She was wearing a long baggy dress. She was at a bus stop. While I sat at the light, she lifted her dress above her waist. Spreading her feet. Revealing a more than ample bush. And proceeded to urinate onto the sidewalk.
